They range from generic fun to deep enthralling story god tier fun. Just depends what type of story you are into. Most people really like abyss and vesperia, although I was more fond of graces and dotnw even though they got really cheesy stories. The battle system in all of them is really fun though.
Pokemon is tots an RPG. I haven't touched the news one though. Far too hipster from the good ol pokebattles on the bus days.
I don't read too much :X. I keep up with like 2 lns, and I read a vn every once in a while, but I have been slacking lately since I got spoiled by a really good title and nothing else seems to compare in my eyes.
As for me, I play an unhealthy amount of league of legends, watch romance animu, and cook. Pretty much sums up my hobbies.
When you say "read" do you mean moreso manga, or actual novels?
