I'm mostly trying to catch up with shows that I thought were interesting before but didn't have the time to watch or ones I watched halfway through, as you can tell by my Recap blog post, probably xD. The only real new show I've been following lately is Chihayafuru, which is pretty good; anime about board games always turn out to be good for some reason~!

And it's first quarter for me too, so mostly just getting used to stuff =). Are you getting along well with your roommate(s)? ^^
-PixieDust- Oct 29, 2011 11:04 AM
I knowwwww, and me too ^^. I totally have no idea what's going on anymore with anime, like I tried to look up the new season and didn't recognize anything xD. Hopefully there are some good shows though!

And yay, how is college?
-PixieDust- Jul 22, 2011 8:54 AM
Oh wow, totally haven't seen like any anime recently and forgot about this ^^;. How've you been?
-PixieDust- Dec 15, 2010 9:13 PM
Haha, I'm so busy right now, it seems so close, yet oh so far away T_T. Doing anything exciting for the holiday break? I still need to sneak in that last bit of Christmas shopping xD

And I'll take a look at Kimi no Todoke when I have some time maybe; I remember it was kinda funny, but I never really connected much with any of the main characters.

I've been super busy too, can't wait for Christmas break~ I haven't watched anything in a long time myself. Tegami Bachi is sorta angsty, but pretty decent as an action/adventure, I think. Oh, I remember watching like 3 or 4 episodes of Kimi no Todoke; don't really remember much about it but that it was pretty cheesy and a decent slice of life ^^ I think it has a second season coming out soon too, so you might be interested.

It's inspired weird and not weird weird though! Also, I've been totally busy and neglecting my anime, but I'm trying to marathon through Tegami Bachi because the I've heard the sequel airing right now is really good.

Shiki has the oddest character designs ever (look at those hairstyles!), but I admit, it kinda grows on you after a while. And the atmosphere is delightfully creepy. Also, if you haven't finished Giant Killing yet, I'd recommend that; probably one of my favorite sports series ^^

I generally like to put off current series shows until all the fansubs are out, so I can pick my favorite group, but the show you mentioned seems to have good potential.

I don't really mind occasional fanservice, but blatant fanservice is enough to prevent me from watching a series without even looking at the story. The depressing thing is that more and more series this season seem to be following that trend =(. Oh, if you enjoy horror, I've been watching Shiki lately, and it seems like a fabulous horror series (Aoi Bungaku was super-awesome too, but it kinda creeps me out too much to watch ^^;).

And I've been okay. School and lots of drama, but I guess that's average.

hiding?
-PixieDust- Jul 26, 2010 3:12 PM
Ooh, I see. I wouldn't really know enough to be able to change the translation though (asides from minor typos perhaps, which don't usually bother me). Picking a good fansub group is definitely important though~

I kinda looked at the what shows were airing over the summer, and there seems to be tons of horror for some reason, which is definitely not my favorite genre ^^; High School of the Dead seemed fairly interesting, but I'm worried about fanservice overload.
-PixieDust- Jul 24, 2010 2:30 PM
Hmm, to be honest, I haven't had the time to take a look at anything this season yet. Maybe I could be persuaded if something really interesting pops up! I still have so many series on my Currently Watching list that I have to finish too T_T

What is the difference between hard subs and soft subs anyways?
-PixieDust- Jul 9, 2010 9:46 PM
There's something about recent Kyoto Animation series (Haruhi, Lucky Star, K-On!, etc) that just doesn't appeal to me at all. I'm not exactly sure what it is - Angel Beats is kinda the same way for me, and I don't think it's simply the ugly character designs =x.

Have you looked at the summer season at all yet? I wonder if anything interesting is airing soon.
-PixieDust- Jun 28, 2010 3:52 PM
Oh, me too! I can finally catch up on so many things, haha.

With Angel Beats, I just thought that they went too overboard with the angst - it comes off as really cheesy instead of being good characterization to me. Actually, I never really noticed the Haruhi similarities before you mentioned it, but I hated the art in that series too ^^;. Something about the characters is just way too "glossy," if you know what I mean. I'd much more prefer a style like that in Giant Killing or Sarai-ya Goyou, for example.
-PixieDust- Jun 27, 2010 6:06 AM
Whoa, I haven't really watched much anime at all because of school and summer starting. Still trying to catch up with most of the Spring shows (expect a lot of them to be dropped because they just stop being interesting after like 6 episodes).

My main issue with Angel Beats - besides the character designs! - is that it I don't find any of the humor very funny, and the drama is pretty overblown (Yurippe's past, seriously?). I'll keep at it for a few more episodes and see if it can surprise me. I did manage to blow through a few episodes of Tatakau Shisho - The Book of Bantorra, which I thought was really excellent, and probably one of my favorite fantasy action series this year.
-PixieDust- May 25, 2010 9:44 PM
The anticipation is part of the charm! ^^

And hopefully. Unfortunately most of the shows last season started off pretty interesting and then went straight off a cliff so I pretty much have nothing to watch again.
