learning sheet music on the guitar isn't as relevant because a majority of guitarists are weaklings who prefer tablature. but it is also strange to learn sheet music on the guitar because you could technically write it in many different clefs, and when you try to add things like hammer-ons and strum patterns into the equation, it just gets unnecessarily confusing. so if you're ever learning a complex guitar riff, stick to tabs.
guitar pro-tips:
-keep your instrument in tune. pretty basic
-if your fingers hurt while playing, toughen up
-if your fingers start to turn black after you've finished playing, it's time to clean your instrument
-maybe actually consider learning how to read sheet music, or at least tabs. also make sure that you know basic chords.
-work on rhythm. if you can't play with a good sense of the beat and time, then it doesn't matter if you're doing everything else right.
-if you're hearing a weird buzzing sound, press down on the strings harder
-if you're not coordinated enough to actually play anything, tune your guitar to drop d and just strum
-if you're not coordinated enough to actually play the guitar at all, buy a ukulele

Thinkin' out loud . . .
That quote is deep, if it was not deep, it is not a quote.
Seriously though, very nice quote. Ed Sheeran is so sweet <3

but if you want to learn a popular melody that everyone on every instrument has to learn, like hot cross buns (for example, because I know that no one really wants to learn that), reading sheet music comes in handy. here's a thing that might be helpful: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/0e/1a/b4/0e1ab47724a8d4dc09e1e818d7e94a33.jpg
