Hello!

I understand what you ment by 'genitive case'. Or at least I think I did cause in hungarian we also match the words to the number of person, and stuff like that. That makes our language quite difficult, but then I guess it's the same with yours.

My new year was fine. I was lazing around all day with my boyfriend, we didn't even move out of the room let alone the house.xDD So it was a very quite new year for us. How about yours? I'm happy that you liked the pic!^^

As for series now I'm watching Heroes and Fringe. But if this Merlin is this good than I will probably watch that too.:) And don't worry it's good if you give me some recommendations I don't mind.:) Also I saw in TV a series called The Jewel of the Palace and I liked it a lot. It's a korean historical series, but it still looked quite good.:) Well I love historical stories so I'm quite fascinated by that one too.:P

Imagine! I got 10 jasmine blossoms from my boyfriend as a Xmas gift!^^ I was soo happy, I immediately tried out them and they were really delicious.:) Also they looked cute as they blossomed in hot water, though I thought that it's flower will be a bit bigger.

I can't wait for a new HP chapter! I really wanna see more and more. I hope that the connection between Gui and Prince will develop too. And I wanna see the Dark Lord too.Anyway all I can do now is read the novel, which is good too. Actually they translate it faster than how fast a new chapter comes out, which is a bit strange. But I wouldn't mind reading the novel and just after that getting the visual part(the manhua).:P What do you think when will we get a new manhua chapter?

Take care, and hope to hear from you soon too!:)

Hello!!

I'm sorry for replying late, but I also wish you a happy new year with this:
счастливый новый год! (I also hope that what I wrote is correct...^^"", by the way yours were perfect!:))

And no I don't watch too much television. I'd rather read or justspend my time in at forums like this.:P
I'm not sure which Merlin series do you mean. I think I only saw the movie called Merlin which had 2 or 3 parts...but I'm not sure about that either.xDD

Have a nice holiday!

I'm back!^^

Ok so what I found about Dracula:

Vlad Tepes was a Wallachian voivode from 1456 to 1462. He fought as the vassal of the hungarian king Mathias the first against the turks. He got the nickname Implaer, because he impaled lots of people as a punishment. His other nickname Dracul (meaning Drevil ), come from his cruelty, and also the fact that his father joined the order of the dragons so the name Dracul can also be translated from latin as The son of the Dragon.
Mainly he ispired the english Bram Stoker to write his book about Drakula. He heard the story of Tepes from Ármin Vámbéry in England, as he wanted to amuse his audience, so he got Tepes from his historycal knowledge and made up a story about the vampire 'Dracul'.

Well that's what I found in a book the other day. I hope you enjoyed reading it. It's actually true. We even learned about him in history class in high school.:)

Ahh no, I'm actually a 4th year in the uni. I woudln't be a 5th year just next year. I was 18 when I started the universtiy. I started university in the same year I finished my high school studies.
Hmm my first exams...well I remember that I was really anxious and afraid of my exams. That really was a nightmare. But later I realised how it gies here in the university and I also realised that it's not that bad as most people imagine. I for example didn't learn too much for any of my exams, except the really hard ones. I usually leanred for the exam a day. One day before the actual exam.xD But again it depends on the school, the teacherd snd of yourse on you too. I'm an easy learner, I can memorize most things after one read. So I guess I'm lucky.
HOw do you usually study? Which is the best way for you? Are you a numeric/visual/ auditive or a cognitive person?

I will definietly look for that kind of tea. I really wanna try it out now that you mentioned it. :)

Do you have the name Petra too? It's a popular girl's name here.

Hope to talk to you soon! ^^
Finarien Dec 9, 2009 5:49 AM
Hi!

Uhh I watched zounds of vampire movies. I also watched Twilight and New Moon, and I read all the books too.:) Well to tell you the truth I'm a very hard core Jacob fan so I'm with the werewolfs in this story. My favourite vampire in this would be Alice. I like her a lot.:) I liked the story but there were times when I felt it's just fan service...aldo I hate the very last book. It was a bit too m uch for me.O.o
Hmm other vampire movies I watched: Interview with a vampire, Queen of the Damned, Lestat the vampire, Vampire 2000, Darren Shan (the books were waaaay better than the movie, but if you don't plan to read them then I guess the movie is pretty ok too) and lastly The League of extraordinary gentlemans (I liked this one a lot cause there were loads of book characters in it, like Tom Sewyer, Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde, Captain Nemo, Dorian Grey and Mina Harker the vampire)...Hmm these are the ones that come to my mind, but I guess there were more that I just don't remember now.:P

Uhh I will continue later, but i have to leave, cause training will start soon!
I will write the translation later!
TAke care till then!

Szióka!

Uhh it took me a long time to get off, of the name page. I was browsing a lot.:DD I also filled the survey for the Lillas.xD Though I didn't really understand why is it important what color are my eyes and hair?!O.o

By the way I like the following japanese names: Mizuki, Yuki, Tsubasa and Hikaru. I think they are soo cute! If I were a japanese I would surely give one of these to my child.:) I also love celtic/gaelic names. They sound a bit rough but actually they are quite beautiful. ^^

The russian version of Peter is Petya? Really? We use Petya as a nickname for Peter. I actually have a friend whom we always call Petya.:DD

Well you really flatter me by saying you fell great whenever writing to me Miss Sunny. Thanks a lot though!:)) I also love to write.:)
Ohh I found some facts in a book about Dracula. do you want me to transalte it for you into english?^^

I also liked Kira too. I was a bit unhappy with him cause he killed L, but well that's how it was about. Though I have to admit that after the death of L I didn't read too much. From that point on I never felt that Kira had as good a counterpart as L was. I felt the whole story sunk a little. In the end I really hoped that Kira will kill all the stupid cops and those small L imitator N or whatever was his name. But that's life...xD

Hmm I generally drink tea, but sometimes if I really feel sleepy I drink coffee, but it's just once in a while. I prefer fruit teas. It can be any kind of fruit.:D My favourite is called DreamFruits and they serve it in my favourite Tea House.:) It' a mixture of lots of different red fruits.
I never saw a Jasmine Wreath before!!!! I really wanna try it once!! Did you see Saiunkoku Monogatari? There the female lead made tea like that. She made hot water and put in a flower and it blossomed in the water. It looked so good. I guess the taste is good too!!!^^

Erm actually I'm in my 4th year in the university... I should have finished it last year but I failed one of my lessons so I have to attend it once more, that's why I have to stay here one more year. Why?:)

Take care till next time!;)
Finarien Nov 28, 2009 12:14 PM
Hi!

Oh I'm sorry,I'm always confusing the family name ie. surname with the given name. :D
Soo our family name comes first and then our given name. My given name is Lilla while my family name is Lengyel. So we write it like: Lengyel Lilla
I got my name after a poet. His muse was a girl called Julianna and he called her in his poems Lilla.
We don't have any patronomyc. Though my bro got the same name as my father. We may have a second givenname which is generally our godmother or godfather's name.:)

Yeah I loooove L. One of my favourite character ever!:D He is very similar to my brother in his looks and behaviour though my bro is not that smart as he is.:D

Then you should use the meaning which is closer to your personality. Or you cansay that when you're upset your name manes rain upon falling upon the river, and when you're happy you can say that your name means sunny.:DD

Haha that's a bit extraordinary. I never heard anyone got a name after a favourite chocolte. well at least your's are a very unique name! I think that's cool.:)

By the way my name would be Peter if I would born a boy. And my boyfriend's name is Balázs!:)) I told him that you like his name and he said he is proud. He knew what does his name mean, I didin'T.:P I also like his name. I don't like my bro's and Dad's. It's Gábor.

Which names do you like? Russian names? Where did you found the meaning of Balázs? just wrote it into Google?

Well it would be good if it turns out to be ok. I will have 3 different exams and out of the 3 two will be really hard!!! But I will try the chocolate tipp, thanks! I never really believed that it makes any difference but I will try thi time.:)
Finarien Nov 26, 2009 1:00 PM
Hello!:)

I'm so sooorry I totally forgot that it was my turn to write to you!!

Ohh I didn't even know that there is a new chapter! Thanks a lot for informing me about it! I read it a few minutes ago.:) Well it's nothing extra...It's a bit slow now..I'm not really interested in this band stuff. I hope there hough this guy who changes gender is quite funny.:D

Well we write our name in the same order as the japanese.:D First is our family name and then comes our surename. Hmm I'm not sure what's the difference between a family name and a patronomyc name. We always get our father's family name...
Hmm frequent girl names are Anna, Lili, Zsófi, Málna and other fruit names...for boys it's Balázs, Bence and Dávid. Lately we are getting more and more names which has a foreign origin and we just make it sound more like a hungarian...

No, Lilla is my full surename.:D If I wanna make it shorter or I wanna use it as a nick I write it like this: Lyla. :) My sister's name is Lívia, and one of my cousins is Laura.:D So we are the L named grandchildren...at least that's what my grandma calls us.:D The funny thing is that my family name is Lengyel which is another additional two "L". My mum choosed these names to alliterate.:D

What's your name? Do it have any kind of meaning? Most of the countries name has some kind of meaning, but not ours.:(
Why did you got your name? What would be your name if you would born a boy?

I'm happy that your colloqium turned out to be good. Mine turned out to be a disaster.:((
Finarien Nov 6, 2009 12:51 PM
Hello!

Then I'm happy that I could provide with information even you didn't know!:)

Well there are a lot of countries that in the older times (before the 1st WW) belonged to Hungary. Like Croatia, Slovakia, the Checz Republic and most part of Romania. But since we lost in the first World War and since the territory of the country was too big and the French was afraid that the country will help out again if it comes to a war, to Austria and Germany, they just took 60% of the territory and divided it into different smaller countries based on the sub-nations that lived there.:)

I'm into finswimming. I have around 7 trainings a week. It depends when I can go to swim.:P There is one every morning and every afternoon except the weekends. So if I really wanna I could go to 10 trainings a week but that's a bit too much.>___<
But I really have to get down as much as I can, since there will be competitions soon!^^ I'm looking forward to it too! I like going to competitions.
Do you go? Do you like it?
Finarien Nov 6, 2009 10:49 AM
привет!

Hmm the film sounds interesting I think I will watch it! It's strange that I never heard from it before...How old is the film?

I also love to travel and I guess I was lucky cause I had lots of opportunities too.My first travel to abroad was when I still was in elementary. My english teacher won a trip to the USA and she could bring 3 of her students with her and I was chosen to go. ^^ That was my first ever travel with airplanes. :)

My gosmother lives in Switzerland so I visited that country a couple of times and I have to tell you that I really like that place. It's just soo beautiful with it's many mountains.

Then I was in France with my high school cause I was learning the french language and the teachers organised a trip there. I didn't really like there...it was really dirty. I mean the streets and the people were a bit strange. I don't wanna offend anyone though.^^""

Then I was in Ireland 3 times cause I was working there as a volunteer. I had to translate and take care of a bunch of seriously ill children for 10 days in a camp. I absolutely love being there and working with the children. They are sooo adorable, and I can get along well with the older ones (14-15years).

And once I was in Italy because the World Championship in finswimming was held there in 2007.

I also wanna go to Greece once.I also like the clture and the buildings. So once I really wanna visit. The other country would be naturally Japan. Again because of the culture mostly.:D I was in Romania before too, but I hate that country and the people from there. I guess it's just a natural reaction. Most of the hungarians don't like the romanians. Also when Count Dracula was alive also known as Vlad Tepes that part of the country was still part of Hungary...^^""""

Sorry about this...^^""

No I don't think that your practicum will take all of your holiday. It's different in every faculty. There are some here which doen't even require practicum. And yeah as a first year it's still "far" away, now.:)

Don't worry I1m also generally very lazy. I love to sleep as long as I can.:P
When do you usually get up? (When you go to school and when you don't have to go?:))Generally I like to wake up around 10 or 11 but when I have trainings in the morning, then I have to wake up 4:55 in the morning. I really hate that.
Do you do any kind of sport?

Take care!
Finarien Nov 2, 2009 1:48 PM
Hello!

We didn't celebrate Halloween the way the americans does. Do you?
We just go to the cemetary and visit our dead and bring flowers to them but that's all.
So it was nothing extraordinary. I also felt sick last week so I was dressed up really warmly.:P So I also spent most of the day at home. I watched a m ovie called Orphan.
Well the last two year's I watched Nightmare before Christmas as a HAlloween movie but this year I wanted something fresh I guess.xD
Though I never saw Hocus Pocus. Is it good? What does it's about?

Yeah I know what yoiu mean by the loads of work at uni. It's even harder than anything else you experienced before, even though I thought that nothing can be harder than my final exams at high school.

Well since I felt sick I kinda spent my holiday in bed, sleeping. And I have to tell you it felt good even with being sick.:P Some sleep really was good for me.

Right now I don't have any part time jobs. I sent my application form to a big company though and I'm still waiting for the reply.:) I made my practicum this summer. Do you have to make a practicum at your uni? It's a compulsory period where you have to work in a company which has some kind of relations to the stuff you are learning at school. So I was working at the Hungarian Finance and Customs Guard as a human resources manager.:) It was mostly office work which was bad cause I got up 5 extra kilos, cause I sat before a computer kinda all day. It was 3 months and it took my whole summer, so I wasn't able to go on holiday. T___T Did you go somewhere in the summer? Do you like to travel?

I have a cat, and I had a dog too. :) I loved my dog but he died, and since then I just couldn't care for any other dogs anymore. And well not I but we have a HUUUGE grey cat, which is reeeeaaally lazy.:D But I love him a lot. He is sooo cute and he is always purring.^^
Hmmm but I don't really have preferences. I like both dogs and cats the same. :) As long as they are cute though. xD

Take care till next time!^^
And good luck with your colloqium!!! (I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!;))
Finarien Oct 26, 2009 4:29 PM
Hey,

How are you doing? Do you have some hard time in school? We have holiday right now so I'm quite free!

I hope we can talk again soon!^^
Finarien Oct 20, 2009 11:28 AM
Hehe yeah most people find it confusing that the word we say to greet each other is used to say good bye in other languages.

No I don't think we have a holiday like midsummer. Or at least we don't celebrate it.Why?

Well if you have cold like that it's quite understandable that you prefer the fewer sunny and warmer times. Well the main reason that I like winter is cause if there's snow then you can go skiing. I absolutely love skiing you know.:)

Hehe I wouldn't say that I know too much french. Since my exam I try not to speak it. I have bad memories when it comes to the french language and I don't really like to speak it, even though I understand a lot.

Cybernetics?? Woow tha sounds awsome!!!Then you must be really smart!:)
Even though I'm studying economics my hidden dream is to become a principal in an elementary school who also teaches children. I would love to teach english!^^

Hmm having more kids in a family has it's own advantages and disadvantages. It surely is more lively with more people, but it is also more bothersome for the older/oldest (in our case me:P) cause the smaller ones always ask them to help them out...

I just can't understand how reversed letter R could be pronanced as "Ya"?!O___O It always amuses me if a culture writes with different letters. I know that my cousin wanted to learn russian and she was pretty good already in learning the letters and their pronanciation.

Anyway ask me any kind of word or phrase that you want to know in hungarian and I will tell you!:)
Also I think that web page is pretty good. I tried the japanese language and it's really useful and interesting. Also the pronanciation is really good too.:)
Finarien Oct 19, 2009 2:18 PM
Heyas!

Today I started to write an answer and it was already pretty long when I clicked somewhere and the whole stuff I already wrote simply vanshed!!>___<
After that I didn't have enough time and patience to start again.:P But I will rewrite the whole stuff again. I hope I won't miss anything I wanted to write.

My parents don't speak too much russian anymore. My mum can say " I speak russian." Yaga waryu par ruski" or something similar...I know it's not in cyrillic but we use the normal roman alphabet with some extra letters (like ö,é,ő,á, ty, cs, sz, zs...)so I wrote it as I kinda heard it..:P
Well it was obligatory for my parents to learn russian and they didn't learn the grammar or simple words they just learned whole sentgences at school which was considered useful if some russian officer asked them...^^"" Well those were different times than now.
My generation could choose which language we wanted to learn. So my mum choose english for me, german for my brother.

Do you have any siblings? I have a younger brother and a younger sister. My bro is 2 years younger than me and my sister is 7 years younger.

So you're studying engineering? That's pretty coool. My brother also studies engineering here in our hometown. Not too much people chooses to be an engineer here. They think it's too hard cause it needs a lot of math.:P
Anyway congratulations in getting into that uni! And also for your cool language exam. Mine was 'only' 80%.:D Though my french exam was waaay harder...O.o Don't even like to remember it.:P

I didn't even think that there were bears on the streets, so I laughed a lot when you said that. Is there some people who assume there are bears in the streets?:)
Well everyone has the idea about a country before they visits it...but I guess you really have to experience it to know.

We don't have this varied temperature. In winter we generally have around -5 Celsius (we use celsius I'm not even sure what's the exchange number between the two...^^""). So we rarely have snow which is a pity cause I love snow. T_T In the summer we can have around 40 Celsius which usually make me die..I hate if it's that hot. I was happy cause this summer was not that hot, and beacuse I was working most of my days went next to a air conditioner.:P

It's not really a burden if you're really intersted.:)
I'll try at least...so let's start with some basics...
Szia (See yah) - Hello
Viszlát (Wis(h) laate) - Goodbye
Hogy vagy? - How are you?
Szép - Beautiful

Anywy that's for now. And if you're really interested in learning hungarian I would like to suggest you to use this: http://www.livemocha.com/
It's free and you can learn zounds of different languages. It's reaaally good!;) Also if you get me as a friend there I can check your test and help you out if you want!;) I'm Finarien there too.:)
BrairMoss Oct 17, 2009 3:11 PM
Random ness! =P

Hocus Pocus is an amazing movie o.o gotta go watch it again this year >.<
Finarien Oct 17, 2009 12:07 AM
:DD I hope your in the end you passed your english language exam.:) Well the most disturbing parts are the names there. They are translated strangely, and I just didn't know what's going on.:D

No I absolutely don't mind your question. If you want we can goprivate but I don't mind it this way either.
I live in Hungary and my native language is naturally hungarian. They say that the closest to our language would be finnish though we nearly don't have anything in common concerning our languages.:) Because our country was invaded by the Turks and they were here for 150 years we have a few turkish words too. It's the same with russian. The country was under russian reign after the II World War, so even my parents had to study russian language at school. :))

Yeah we have a couple of special holidays. Most of it comes from different battles...though mostly we lost.xD Our national holiday is on August 20 that was the time when Hungary's first king (Saint Stephen) was crowned in 1000. And one of my favourite holiday is May 1st (maybe you also have this holiday?) which is the celebration and holiday of WORK. So on that day we just don't work at all.xDDD

I live in the south part of Hungary in the 5th biggest city though it's still really small compared to other country's cities. It's really sunny and also called the city of Sunshine. My city is famous for it's really good quality red pepper and they make the Pick salami here too.:)

I hope I didn't tell you too much and you won't get bored.:) I'm a bit of a history fan so I guess it's not a good thing to ask me about my country cause then I will just go through all the history about it I know.xDD

So why did you moved to Moscow? (You're living there now right? Maybe I don't remember it correctly sorry...^^"") Where did you live before? It really is always cold there? Do you also write with cyrill (I'm not sure if it's written like this...O.o) letters?

I think it's a good thing that you can have friends from all around the world with the help of the internet.:P
Thanks for being interested.^^
