Hi Mark. Haven't seen you on Skype recently (perhaps something to do with the fact that I haven't been on Skype much recently, heh). Anyway, if you haven't yet seen past episode 2 of Ookami-san, I highly recommend doing so - it definitely picks up again.
I would have liked a full set of meetings. Horrid exams. Still, I suppose us compscis have the advantage that none of our exams until the last year actually count for anything.
I'll forgive you the insult of Marimite since you have Mai HiME rated so highly :P. Your argument, however, rests on the idea that the main attraction in Marimite is the communication difficulties. I suspect, given liberty to pick any element of a given series, you could find an element that had been used repeatedly in other series, and therefore claim that the series as a whole was formulaic. The easy rebuttal to this with regards to Marimite is series 3, which is almost devoid of such communication difficulties, and which is generally considered to be the best series, indicating that its main attraction comes from some other aspect.
