Hey there, i am one of the biggest fans of TTGL i know so i can answer your question (i think talking on those forums is cringe so lets talk in here.)
So people ware not ignoring his pain or something like that.
But the entire point was showing what happens when someone is with a depression, the world keeps going and you are the only one stopped in time.
Yoko already knew that because she is strong, but she could not help simon.
1. She knows that simon likes her so its a no no
2. Yoko was having a big pain just like simon, kamina was and is the love of her life, since her job as a teacher was choosed in honor to kamina desire to help the kids at the surface.
3. The point was, even yoko that loved simon dont doubt that, he was like a little brother, she never believed he could be like kamina but she believed that kamina wanted him to get up by him self and stop realying on other people.
Also you ask... what about nia? Its easy to nia to help simon because she is a outsider, she never met kamina, she just believed in the simon that saved her, so she could not want him to be kamina, she wanted simon to be simon.
Yoko stopped rossiu because she know that rossiu help will change nothing.
So what can i say is that, the only person that was a shit for simon was kittan, but is not because he is a bad dude, is because his personality is more energetiand he says everything.
