Oh how I wanted to love this. But then I somehow didn't.
Story 6/10: The premise was interesting enough for me to start watching it but the execution was kind of lackluster considering how episodic it is, which is something I really didn't expect, and frankly, didn't much like, especially with the amount of time dedicated to side characters I just didn't care about. The comedy is definitely the focus of this series, which would be fine if some of the jokes or comedic situations in general weren't so creepy.
Art 9/10: The art is basically my favourite thing about this show. The character designs are pretty
...
beautiful and clean and the backgrounds, while they may look simple, they're actually done in this watercolor style, something that felt very fitting for the lighthearted tone of the show. Although there was one thing I absolutely hated in this department - Usui's design. He's just... ugly.
Sound 6/10: The voice acting was pretty good in general though I wouldn't say there were many stand-out performances, but the ost in general was pretty mediocre considering that I only noticed it in one episode out of 26. I hated the opening theme before I even watched the show, and the ending was also pretty mediocre. In general, the sound aspect was quite a let-down.
Character 4/10: I expected this show to excel in the character department, but unfortunately this is where it falls down the hardest. It introduces an absurd amount of side characters and gives them too much screen-time, so much so that the main characters end up suffering for it. Most of said side characters aren't even interesting or relevant enough to warrant entire episodes dedicated to them. As for the main characters, well, Misaki was interesting enough to keep me watching but her character wasn't used well at times and it didn't feel like she developed at all during the show. Usui kind of doesn't have a personality outside of his interactions with Misaki, therefore those were the most interesting thing about him, though a lot of them ended up being very uncomfortable.
The dynamic between the two is often hailed as one of the best in romance anime, and yet I couldn't see that, because Usui's aloof persona gets old really fast considering that it's basically all we see of him. He's also wonderfully creepy at times - but he constantly saves her from other creeps so it's fine right :) -, and Misaki's reaction to his actions is usually blushing and then yelling at him. She also doesn't really show much inclination towards him apart from a few select moments. So, while it had great potential, somewhere along the way it fell flat on its face and turned out to be one of my least favourite dynamics I've come across in romance anime.
Enjoyment 6/10: There was some enjoyment considering that I finished it, but that was mainly because it's pretty funny at times and I was interesting in seeing how the main 'relationship' would progress (spoiler: it doesn't progress much at all). I did end up skipping a lot, especially in the second half, and this is definitely not a show I'll rewatch any time in the near future.
Overall 6/10: I desperately wanted to love it because it is often likened to the great rom-coms such as Toradora but unfortunately it ended up being exactly what I didn't want it to be. Or maybe my approach was faulty from the beginning, as I went into it and finished it just for the romance. Whatever the case, I would recommend this for it's lightheartedness and the overall fun atmosphere but for a good romance I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Tired of 'romance shows' that barely have 3 seconds of romance at the end of the last episode? This is exactly what you need.
Story 9/10: This show doesn't spend all of its time on a 'will-they-won't-they' story, because, as much fun as those kinds of shows are, there's way too many of them. Instead, here they get together within the first three episodes, and then the rest is mostly episodic, showing the natural progression of their relationship through the things that happen around them. The only reason this category doesn't get a 10 is because Suna didn't get the happy ending he deserved and I
...
kind of really disliked the last two episodes.
Art 10/10: I watched this because it's made by Madhouse, which is one of my favourite studios, therefore I expected it to look good, but not this good. Really, everything about it is beautiful and enhances the atmosphere and feelings conveyed by the show. It takes a bit to get used to the character design, but I've grown to love even that. It's just very colourful and sometimes breathtakingly beautiful, and the backgrounds. Oh god the backgrounds, I love them so much. One day I intend to rewatch this and just stare at the backgrounds in every single episode.
Sound 10/10: I loved the opening and ending songs, although they never changed, as I had expected from a two-cour show, and the overall ost was perfect for it at all times. The most notable thing, however, was definitely the voice acting. As it introduces quite a few characters in 24 episodes, there are a lot of standout performances within the main cast, but also the side characters.
Character 10/10: This show is incredible in its treatment of characters. A lot of them are initially presented as typical stereotypes, but then the show goes on and you realize that they're actually very different from what you'd expect. Most importantly, all the significant characters are actually good people. That doesn't mean they don't have flaws, it just means that they all try their best and they always have good intentions and it's really refreshing because even though I love morally grey characters, sometimes I need a show like this to restore my faith in humanity. The best thing about this show, though, is definitely its focus on the relationships between characters. It showcases multiple types of love and friendship, and the most important relationships grow and mature through the course of the anime. This is most obvious with the main couple, who start out as nervous wrecks every time they have to talk to each other, but then as time goes on they start settling down and by the end it feels as if they've been together forever. It's a beautiful thing to witness.
Enjoyment 10/10: There were a few parts that dragged, but other than that it made me squeal and laugh and feel really happy all the time, which is what it's meant to do. I might have even teared up a few times, it was amazing.
Overall 10/10: It probably wouldn't appeal to everyone, but it's perfect for bad days when you just need a pick-me-up. For me, it definitely goes on the list of favourite rom-coms, and I expect that I will be rewatching it quite often in the future.

I wasn't planning on watching this, well, ever. But then after it finished airing I saw a lot of buzz about it so I started in on a whim and then spent a day watching it instead of studying. Totally worth it.
Story 10/10: I guess its overall plot is just the main character helping different people suffering from this fictional Puberty Syndrome. The entire concept of this can be off-putting but honestly, there was enough explanation and pseudo-science for it to sound logical within the context of the anime, so I had no problem with the premise. This Syndrome manifests itself very differently in the
...
case of different people, due to which the anime is able to masterfully tackle some very mature themes, that you wouldn't expect to see in such an anime. It's generally a pretty smart show, and it has its fair share of plot twists, so I cannot complain about the story element.
Art 10/10: The art was one of the reasons I actually decided to watch this, I was drawn to the character designs from still images alone, and then seeing it all in motion just made it better. It always looks very smooth and shiny, and the backgrounds are breathtaking at times, so it's definitely a pleasure to watch.
Sound 10/10: I would dock off half a point at least because I absolutely hate the opening theme, but I cannot give this section less than 10 due to how much I adore the ending theme, and the incredible voice acting that made me wonder how such talented people exist. As for the ost, I didn't rarely noticed it while watching the show, but listening to it on its own is a very pleasant experience.
Character 10/10: This is definitely a character-driven show, as there is less emphasis on the plot itself, as opposed to the characters' thoughts and feelings and reactions. Basically the entire point of this show is the characters. And it somehow manages to introduce quite a few characters, while also giving each of them a different personality and story and enough screen-time for the audience to grow to love them. But my most favorite thing about the characters in this show is just how human they feel. None of them are annoying, none of them are terribly childish or oblivious to the world around them; because there is such an emphasis on the characters' emotions, it makes them feel very mature and relatable. The relationships between the characters were also incredibly well-done, the protagonist behaved differently with different people, which is why I never got the feeling of a harem from it. And the romance. Oh god the romance. I have no words to describe it. I'll just settle for saying that it might take over Toradora! as my favorite romcom.
Enjoyment 10/10: I was drawn in within the first few minutes, and I just couldn't stop watching until I finished. There wasn't a single moment when it felt boring or slow, even though there is a lot of dialogue, and I also somehow grew attached to all of the characters, even though I tend to struggle when new characters are introduced at a fast rate. I'm really glad I didn't watch it as it was airing though, because it's probably better to binge-watch it.
Overall 10/10: This is definitely not for everyone, as, like I said, it is very slow and character focused, but everyone who likes such shows should watch it, especially if you like well-developed, mature characters. Now I just have to wait for the second season, while praying that, if it ever happens, it'll be at least half as good as this.

This was my first rom-com anime and, though I've tried to find one that might top it, I haven't had any luck.
Story 9/10: The premise itself is already different from the typical rom-com premise, and it stays that way as it goes on, so much so that, even though it's a slice-of-life without incredible plot-twists, you never get bored and it never feels predictable. The only reason I decided to dock a point off this section was because of the ending, which wasn't horrible but it could've been better.
Art 10/10: The character designs take a bit of getting used to, and the art in
...
general is pretty average, but there are times when it looks absolutely incredible, and during such moments you can definitely see just how much work they put into it. Apart from those moments, I really love the backgrounds, which might not seem remarkable compared to other anime, but they work really well here.
Sound 10/10: I'd be tempted to dock a point because I don't really like a lot of the background music on its own, but the few tracks I do like more than make up for it, especially when coupled with the voice acting, which is generally solid, and sometimes mind-blowing.
Character 10/10: Honestly, I only love the two main characters. I've seen this anime three times so far and I still haven't really gotten attached to the three very prominent side-characters. They are definitely fleshed out and very good characters overall, but I personally just don't like them very much, especially Ami, who I might call mature if she wasn't so annoying most of the time. However, Taiga and Ryuuji both make up for that. They're definitely some of the best character I've ever seen in anime, both individually and together. Their unique dynamic is definitely the leading factor behind my love for this anime.
Enjoyment 10/10: The first time I watched it I fell in love with it in the first few minutes, and I marathoned it in two days, not knowing how empty I would feel when I finished it. I've seen it two more times since then, and it still manages to make laugh and cry at the appropriate moments.
Overall 10/10: If there were more rom-coms like this, I'd definitely be a huge fan of the genre. As that's not the case, this would be my first recommendation to anyone looking for a good romance anime.

I've tried writing this review three times and I'm still not sure what words I could use to express how this anime makes me feel. I'll just settle for saying that I wish I could give it 100/10.
Story 10/10: I'll be honest, when I first started watching it, in the midst of the hype, I dropped it several times because I'm usually not the biggest fan of episodic series and this particular one moves rather slowly; that is until I realized that the beauty doesn't lie in the plot itself, which is kind of nonexistent, but rather in the way the story is told. Because
...
there is a story, just not a traditional one.
Art 10/10: It doesn't take a lot for me to be satisfied with a show's art and animation but the attention to detail and the love put into every frame of this show is mind-blowing and I have no idea what the producers had to do in order to make it look like this. While KyoAni generally makes rather beautiful shows, this is on a whole another level. It really can't be compared with anything else.
Sound 10/10: The soundtrack is incredible. It's usually quite subtle, so much so that you almost miss it, but it shows itself at the most important moments and it is glorious. It's so varied and yet it is the main factor that sets the overall mood and atmosphere of the show. The voice acting is, of course, amazing as well, particular for Violet. It takes a special kind of voice actress to be able to voice a character such as Violet.
Character 10/10: This show is, first and foremost, concerned with its characters. It doesn't waste time setting up a grandiose plot, and instead lets the characters and their emotions do the work. And somehow, through the dialogue and the visuals and the subtle body language, in a mere 13 episodes it fleshes out its main and side characters better than other shows do in 100 episodes.
Enjoyment 10/10: This should be 9/10 because I did drop it a few times but when I got really into it every single episode made me cry in some way shape or form, so of course I can't give it less than 10.
Overall 10/10: On the one hand I am incredibly happy to be alive in a time where I get to experience such a masterpiece, on the other hand however, because this is one of those 'one in a million' kind of shows, I probably won't ever see anything like this ever again, which is pretty sad.
But I would absolutely recommend it to anyone and everyone. It's just one of those shows you shouldn't miss if you can help it.

I was very very hesitant about starting this series because 1. it's supposedly a kids' show, and 2. my experience with magical girl anime boils down to Madoka Magica and about 3 episodes of Tokyo Mew Mew. Obviously now it's my favourite anime.
Story 10/10: An average episode goes like this: Sakura is doing some daily thing, a card causes some trouble, Sakura comes up with some strategy to catch the card, all is well. At first glance it might not seem as the most interesting from a story standpoint, because it is largely episodic and has very little action, but I am someone who rarely
...
goes into an anime for the story element, so I found the simplistic structure refreshing, and even though a few major plot points had been spoiled for me beforehand, it still managed to surprise me quite a few times.
Art 10/10: This is an old anime, therefore of course it cannot be compared with the current art and animation, but it is Madhouse, and this show looks very very good compared to others from the same year. And it does get better as it goes on, although the change only becomes noticeable after the halfway point. Personally though, I've gotten so attached to the character designs and the colours and the special effects and everything that I'm probably going to have a hard time watching Clear Card-hen.
Sound 10/10: I only really loved the first opening and ending themes, but the overall soundtrack makes up for that. Every time I go to listen to this soundtrack it instantly makes me feel happy and at peace, and this is probably the only show that doesn't have a single track on its soundtrack that I don't absolutely adore. The voice acting was incredible as well, with quite a few notable performances among the main cast but the side characters as well.
Character 10/10: This is probably the most character focused show I've seen so far, and I love it. The plot is rarely at the forefront, and it has ample time to develop its characters and their relationships, and most of the conflict comes from miscomunication, misunderstandings, or just people being dense, but conflicts never happen just because a character is evil for the sake of being evil, instead all characters are good in some way or another, and so are their motives. Because the overarching theme is love, it shows love in a lot of different ways, and it is always something to be celebrated, even if it takes some questionable forms at times.
Rewatch Value: I'm probably going to come back and just watch any random episode whenever I'm feeling down. It's just such a wonderful series and I wish I had grown up with it.
Enjoyment 10/10: It took until about episode 9 that I really got into it, but after that there was only one episode I found kind of dull, other than that it was an emotional rollercoaster, it made me laugh it made me tear up it made me feel amazed, but each and every episode made me feel like the world is a wonderful place that must be appreciated, and I am thoroughly thankful for that.
Overall 10/10: It is definitely my favourite series, and I would absolutely recommend it to everyone. I think we could all do with a bit more gentleness in our hearts, and this show would definitely help with that.

I just finished watching this so this review might be all over the place. Please bear with me.
Story 10/10: While the story went in unexpected directions in the first season, this season took it to a whole another level and thus this is definitely one of the most mind-fuck animes I've ever watched. I tried guessing what was going on whenever I was confused but then when things were actually revealed I was just left feeling stupid. It was amazing.
Art 10/10: I really loved the art and animation in the first season, and that didn't change this time around. Since it was pretty much top-notch
...
from the start, there was very little left to be improved, in my opinion of course, so I don't have much to say about this part.
Sound 10/10: Sometime during this season I grew so attached to Jun Fukuyama's voice that now I couldn't imagine anyone else voicing Lelouch. The rest of the voice acting was amazing as well, with a lot of outstanding performances in the last episodes. The background music was different, but still frequently reused tracks from the first season, although I must say I felt more emotionally impacted by the new music, especially in the second half of the season. I loved the first opening and ending themes, but didn't much care about the others. I'm fine with that.
Character 10/10: I generally have a hard time warming up to new characters especially if other characters I love are killed for them to have a place in the story, and that was true for some of the new faces in this, but I grew to love most of them by the end, and most of my favourite characters from the first season showed up here as well, even if some of them didn't have as big of a role as I would've wished. Overall the character aspect was incredibly satisfying, this season blessing us with some of the most complex and human characters in anime, and Lelouch's character arc got a wonderful, if sad, ending. The only complaint about the characters I have is Rolo's existence, whom I found useless and annoying and was glad when [redacted].
Enjoyment 10/10: In the very beginning I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it as much as the first season, especially when I saw what direction the story was taking, but soon I was kept on the edge of my seat by every episode, so I managed to finish this season in two days as well. I did skip some action scenes to get to the plot evolution, but any complaints I might have can be overlooked thanks to the existence of the last episode, which might be my favourite anime episode like.... ever....
Overall 10/10: I know a lot of people don't love this season, but personally I found it even better than the first and it knocked Hunter x Hunter off the number 1 spot on my 'all time favourite anime' list so I would definitely recommend it to just about anyone. Now please excuse me while I go cry to 'Continued Story'.

I started this knowing nothing other than the fact that it has a great opening and it's very very very popular. I finished it with a new anime on my top 5 all-time-favourites list.
Story 10/10: The premise is interesting enough that it pulled me in from the very beginning, and then it kept getting better and better to the point where I gave up even trying to guess where it would go because I'm obviously not smart enough to ever be right. It had a quite a few plot twists that left me with my mouth hanging open, and the whole Geass power thingy is
...
one of the most interesting abilities I've encountered in anime, so I'm satisfied.
Art 10/10: I know not everyone agrees with this but I found the overall art style incredibly beautiful and a pleasure to look at, everything is pretty much perfect from colour use to special effects and action scenes (especially in the last two episodes), which is very interesting considering that this anime came out in freaking 2006 and I don't tend to like older anime when it comes to the art. My favourite part other than the fight scenes has to be the colour combinations used in the character designs - the lack of harmony between hair and eye colours might be jarring for some but to me it makes the characters feel really unique. Another positive is that this show might have my favourite anime tears in existence.
Sound 9/10: The first opening is one of the best anime openings like ever, but it took some time until I grew to love any of the other opening or ending themes. On the other hand, the background music was pretty amazing, it always fit the mood perfectly and there were a lot of songs that really set the mood of the scenes they were used in. The voice acting was incredible as well, and Jun Fukuyama has now become one of my favourite voice actors because of his ability to use a different voice for all of Lelouch's personas.
Character 10/10: I spent way too much time trying to decide whose side I should be on, and I'm still not sure, so that must say something. Every major character was developed in some way, although it was always in a way that furthered the plot, but that made it even better, and the side characters were treated so so well, I absolutely did not expect to grow to love so many characters this much, and most of all Lelouch, who is defintiely one of the best protagonists I've come across in fictional media. I also didn't expect this anime to have such a wonderful cast of female characters :')
Enjoyment 9/10: Getting through the first four episodes was quite difficult for some reason but then episodes five pulled me in and never let go, so I ended up binge-watching the rest of it in about 2 days. I even cried a few times, and that ending absolutely destroyed me.
Overall 10/10: I must say, this anime absolutely deserves the hype that it gets even 12 years later, and, in my humble opinion, is the only anime that could be said to almost be on par with FMAB. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, and I'd guess it doesn't fail as an introduction to anime in general either. It is also one of the shows that deserve to be rewatched, even if you don't typically tend to do that.

.............This isn't what I expected I'd have to write once I got around to watching it.
Story 6/10: The premise is interesting and it started out pretty well, but at some point it started going in directions I did not want it to go in, and it was kind of confusing to be honest. Not to mention that the ending was obvious from the very beginning.
Art 7/10: I don't want to be too harsh since it is from 1984 but I also don't want to lie, so this is my rating. Some aspects of the art are very good, because this is Ghibli, but a lot
...
of other aspects make it very obvious how old this is, especially the overall colour scheme and the explosions.
Sound 6/10: The voice acting and most sound effects were okay I guess, but nothing really stood out to me and I absolutely hated the background music, I just found it annoying overall.
Character 7/10: For the first half that I actively paid attention to, I found Nausicaa a pretty good character, and her little pokemon animal whose name I forgot I absolutely loved, but these two just aren't enough to make me give the character aspect a higher rating.
Enjoyment 6/10: The first half was okay but then it went downhill so much so that at the 60% mark I was silently praying for it to end already.
Overall 6/10: Objectively it's a pretty good movie but it just didn't work for me and I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

This was my very first Ghibli movie and I love it very much.
Story 9/10: I read the book after having watched this a few times and I must say, I actually prefer this version when it comes to the overall plot. I love the liberties it takes and the ending is very very satisfying so there isn't much to complain about. Perhaps a lack of detail concerning some story aspects, but it's already long enough, and one of it's strengths is how there isn't a dull moment, so more explanations would've probably just bogged it down.
Art 10/10: This is definitely my favourite Ghibli movie when
...
it comes to the art. The colours and the movement and the special effects and especially Howl's Castle, they're all just amazing and aesthetically pleasing.
Sound 9/10: I am so attached to the Japanese voices, they all fit the characters so well and the voice actors did a great job. The soundtrack isn't the most outstanding in my opinion, but it does the job and the main theme just sounds magical.
Character 10/10: Although Sophie is more sarcastic in the book, I actually prefer her personality in the movie, she feels a lot more believable and relatable. Howl can be sort of annoying at times with his childish behaviour but he's very loveable in general, so I can't really fault him for having flaws. However my favourite character in the entire movie is Calcifer because he is adorable and he has some great lines and I just. I just love him a lot.
Enjoyment 9/10: It is a highly enjoyable movie but its rewatch value is on the lowish side because of how long it is and because some sequences lose their charm after a while so that's unfortunate.
Overall 9/10: I would absolutely recommend this movie to anyone, especially as an introduction to Ghibli, I think it encompasses a lot of the elements found in other Ghibli movies, and overall it's just very magical and fun.
