From a demon lord to a MgRonald’s part-timer. That is the story of the main protagonist in nutshell.
This reverse isekai is actually very funny – running gags, situational comedy, sarcasm and all characters play their role very well; though it sometimes lack proper direction – story parts feel thought up during writing process; and some important plot points could be explained further via better constructed dialogues.
We get slowly introduced to more and more characters from the original world where the demon lord comes from. All have their reasons and after we get to know them a bit better, they stay with the main cast
...
for the rest of the show with their gags to enhance slice of life/comedic appeal.
The show dances between ‘slice of life + workplace’ and ‘action + magic’ settings. It represents a bit of a big contrast. For me personally, I prefer those peaceful moments way more than those with magical fights, especially because I don’t find the magical concept and fantasy world lore appealing that much as the former. But for other fans, it may be vice versa.
I wouldn’t keep my hopes very high for a big romance development. There is some romantic subtext, but no big focus on this type of development. Some pairings (and triangles) are hinted at, but it will certainly resolute only at the very end (if ever).
What I would keep my focus most to, is the already mentioned slice of life appeal the show has. It brings many other bonuses to keep us entertained and that might be the reason for its popularity (and for getting more seasons after so many years).
Pros:
+ funny show
+ good slice of life-oriented plot development
Cons:
- seems to have no idea where to go next
- sometimes rushed – some plot parts ask for more details/clearer explanations
Double-edged:
+/- big contrast between slice of life and magic/action plot parts
+/- very small romance development
7/10 (GOOD)

I am not a big fan of shoujo shows (or manga). Mostly because it is the most formulaic type of all media. But that doesn't mean when one title catches my interest (like this one) I don't give it a try.
I liked the cast of characters. The personality and acting of the main female lead makes her more of a hit or miss (I had no issues with her); but the way she and her friends act together is really heartwarming. Their friendly interactions are likable and it seems they trust each other, since they are willing to talk about their issues to each other
...
and trying to find a solution together.
It got a very good start, but a very bad conclusion; to give you an idea without spoilers, imagine it this way – you are cooking a very tasty meal and you are looking forward to eat it (that's the first half of the show), but then, instead of black pepper, you add cinnamon (that's around episode 9-10) and when you start eating, you realize you added cinnamon instead of black pepper, because it tastes terrible, and the whole meal is ruined (last episode).
The non-spoiler flaws I can talk about goes back to its root formula – being a shoujo show. Expect a lot of cliches (e.g. running away from people during serious dialogues, melodrama, acting on emotions, misunderstandings…).
The premise is very easy to get into, but the show won't deliver anything close to satisfying.
Watch only if you are a diehard fan of shoujo genre, yet still, you may find yourself end up being disappointed. I had high hopes for this one, but it all got shattered to pieces. The conclusion is nonsensical and pointless (and even somewhat illogical).
Pros:
+ hooky premise; easy to get into
+ initial chemistry between characters
Cons:
- final events destroyed the whole story
- insignificant/meaningless conclusion
- use of too much shoujo cliche
Double-edged:
+/- potential to be very good, but it wasn't
+/- female protagonist’s nature/traits are hit or miss
4/10 (BAD)

Another isekai, before the famous isekai trend started. And I would say that this is the main culprit behind all the trashy isekai shows we have been getting for so many years. Maybe all bad isekai tropes can be tracked right here.
Story progress is almost non-existent; it’s all about the main duo winning one game and moving to another one; some are interesting with a cool concept, some not. Winning of the main duo brings no impact since we know from the beginning they are going to win. They are super-genius after all. Every challenge is a piece of cake; zero impact.
The main focus of
...
the show is comedy. Some jokes are funny, some fall flat, some are cringy... it's a mess; not to mention a lot of fanservice and even occasional nudity. The only redeeming quality is the artstyle. Very good looking, very unique, very colorful. No other show looks like this.
This franchise is also known for a lot of controversies around it – mostly plagiarism. This doesn't bring the show down quality-wise, but, for those who are wondering, this is the main reason why it didn't get a sequel for so many years, and who knows if it ever gets one or if the novel will ever get finished, since the author has been bombarded with lawsuits.
I don't get the love and popularity behind this show. I find it really bad. But who am I to judge? If so many people like it and find it funny, chances are, you will like it too. If you don't mind any of my criticism, you are free to give the show a try and see for yourself.
Pros:
+ eye candy-type artstyle
Cons:
- plain characters
- predictable (protagonists always win)
- non-existent story development
Double-edged:
+/- controversies
+/- hit or miss comedy type
+/- lots of fanservice; not everybody likes it
4/10 (BAD)

This one is not really like usual rom-com. The main characters treat each other a bit differently, their backstory is presented more like a mystery, and they both have a specific and contrasting personality – the guy is more calm and stoic; the girl is more emotional and indirectly shows more interest in getting back together romantically.
It’s pretty obvious they both still love each other. They just won’t say it out loud. It is more about how they act. The aspect I find the most appealing is their willingness to help and protect each other despite their mocking attitude towards each other. By observing their
...
actions, one can easily see they just scream to each other “I love you!”
I like the artstyle. It might look a bit generic and one can almost immediately recognize that the source material is a light novel just from this. Still, this one has that specific vibrant, yet light coloring. It looks real and refined. For one time, we don't need super flashy hair colors to look appealing, yet I can see that many people won't like it with arguments like 'too generic' (which is fine, I don't judge).
The whole show feels like it goes nowhere. It has an episodic formula or 2 episodes long arcs focusing on solving some minor issues with each other or with their friends. Nothing big or meaningful for the story. Comedic approach is more on side of sarcasm. Nothing flashy or ridiculous. Also, be prepared for pretty lot of fanservice.
With all it’s flaws, I found it pretty easy to watch. So what about it? Do I recommend?
This is the hardest one because It doesn't have the specific rom-com vibes (and it's not that mysterious as I initially thought…). I would probably consider it as a Slice of Life. If you like this genre, go for it.
Pros:
+ chemistry between the step-siblings
Cons:
- stagnant & episodic; story doesn’t progress much
- offers much less than initially presumed
Double-edged:
+/- pretty strong on fanservice – not everybody likes it
+/- ‘mellow’ style of comedy; not ‘hilarious’ style
+/- decent artstyle, but many will find it generic
+/- pretty watchable with all its flaws

When an owner of a big company decides it is time to retire, he gets an idea to introduce to his introverted son a bunch of girls and gives him ultimatum to choose one of them as his wife to eventually inherit the company together.
The rules are simple. After each week, 1 out of 10 girls gets disqualified from the game until only one remains. A good spin on survival stories. Only instead of dying, a girl gets just disqualified and loses her right to marry into his rich family.
The main character is again the typical harem protagonist with one-dimensional personality and is always undecided
...
what to do next.
We are talking about a harem manga, so we want to root for our favorite girl. However, one may want to change his opinion on a girl if she turns out to have sinister intentions; many of the girls have selfish objectives (e.g. just to get rich, being a gold-digger).
Fortunately, the one that is going to win (not saying who, of course) has genuine romantic feelings. That means we get a really nice and wholesome conclusion. We have no idea who it is unit the very end, which holds the suspense pretty well through the whole story.
Other than that, there’s nothing more to offer. There are some dialogues and actions between the characters, but these parts are mostly boring. The main selling point is, which girl gets disqualified next and which is going to ‘survive’.
To decide, if you wanna read it or not... If the synopsis sounds interesting to you, give it a shot. And remember it is very spicy and erotic with lots of nudity.
Pros:
+ interesting ‘survival’ aspect
+ good conclusion
Cons:
- boring dialogues
- plain personality of the male main character
Double-edged:
+/- development of the girls is only small, but sufficient
+/- ‘unappealing harem protagonist gets all the chicks’ formula is there, but well-reasoned
+/- very explicit/erotic content that should be expected since it is an ecchi manga

We have here an actually interesting and original isekai; no cheap comedy, no magic. It is more about survival, horror, fear and lot of suspense. A class on a field trip gets transported with the whole bus into a parallel world inhabited by elves who breed humans for food and it’s up to the main characters to find a way on how to escape.
Not many people will like story such as this. It has many so-called 'edgy' elements, like gore, sexuality and rape, so here you have your word of warning.
Characters are well written, as long as the story goes. Each has some strengths that
...
are required for the group's survival (one is the smart and calculating, other is strong and reliable, or another one keeps the group composed and together etc.). The story keeps us caring for the main characters; it showed us it is easy to die and therefore we are rooting for them like they could die any moment. This brings a lot of suspense to the whole reading experience.
The story is finished, but for some of those who are not reading a lot of horrors, it may actually feel unfinished or even cut. It is not. It is important to know that for horrors, it is pretty common to leave us hanging or leave some mysteries unsolved. That’s the appeal of horrors.
It is easy to read and easy to get through. If captivated, one can read the whole thing in one day; it’s really short. For those who want to start with horrors, this is a good candidate.
Pros:
+ suspense; very exciting read
+ each character has his/her important role
+ short, straightforward, easy to read
Cons:
- not for everyone (contains gore, rape...)
Double-edged:
+/- many unsolved mysteries, but that is to be expected
+/- pretty much concluded, but keeps the readers wanting more
9/10 (GREAT)

This is not just a typical sci-fi about space travel in far future. It has everything needed to be considered a masterpiece – great story, character development, sense of reality, drama, lot of mysteries, and this whole package is enriched with the addition of good quality laughs.
Besides survival elements and objective to get home, there are a lot of mysteries surrounding our heroes (how it is possible they got so much luck to find a functioning spaceship? Who is the traitor among them?) Eventually, everything will be answered, which creates great satisfaction when the story concludes.
All characters are unique along with different traits, behaviors, skills
...
and backstory each of them told. All of them get their dedicated story section one at a time. From the art perspective, they also have very memorable character design and voices. Great artstyle overall.
The show is heavy on drama and also very funny. But sometimes, when we get a very dramatic scene, there comes really inappropriate joke that ruins the drama. Probably for comedy relief purposes, but for some people (like me), it may leave somewhat bitter aftertaste.
Approaching the end, with all the remaining pieces of puzzle to be still resolved, it gets a bit complicated. One might end up being confused with all sudden revelations. Still, it is only a minor issue. The only way to avoid such confusion is to pay extra attention on everything that is said.
This is a must watch. Give this show a try regardless of your preferences.
Pros:
+ character development and design
+ mysteries
+ satisfying conclusion
Cons:
- many events and revelations happening at the end, making it harder to follow
Double-edged:
+/- sudden change from dramatic event to comedy/joke may tick with some people
10/10 (MASTERPIECE)

What happens, when a guy gets governmental notice about his future wife being chosen, but falls in love with another girl? The story follows this specific struggle as its main focus.
Sounds cool and all that… until reaching around 1/4 of the manga, when I realized it all starts getting noticeably worse and is slowly falling apart.
Specifically the dialogues. The conversations between characters lead almost nowhere. It is rare to find a meaningful talk and it takes way too long to have some progress. It contains many events that could be avoided (or at least put together). After some time, it completely loses a proper direction.
The
...
artstyle looks very nice. I find the looks of the characters appealing (specifically those big eyes; way too big even by anime/manga standards, but it has its charm).
The problem is again with the dialogues from the perspective ‘art-to-text ratio’. I find it too dense with texts. Sometimes I felt like I was reading light novel, not manga. And, as mentioned, given that the dialogues are pretty boring, this creates very bad synergy.
To conclude it, the original premise sounded very good. Then the story started getting into dead-ends and further into a mess.
The only viable solution was to create two alternative endings to conclude the story and conveniently avoid picking only one girl over the other. And yet still, as it turned out, only one ending was really worthwhile; the other one felt forced in my opinion (not spoiling which, of course). So even in the end it got half-butchered.
Not totally bad manga, but painful to finish. I can’t recommend. Still, if you like romance stories, you may enjoy it way more that I did.
Pros:
+ interesting premise
+ visually appealing artstyle
Cons:
- boring dialogues
- unbalanced art-to-text ratio
- too lengthy; contains unnecessary events
Double-edged:
+/- ending for both girls, but only one feels canonical

[dropped after chapter 20]
A supposedly very rare disease is affecting one girl causing her severe pain... Unless there are more girls in the same school with the same disease.
How rare of a disease is that?
Not to mention that pain comes into those very sensitive places where people are forbidden to touch (breasts, butts, thighs…). And here comes our hero to help treat the girl(s) from her (their) pain by ‘massaging’ these very sensitive places I mentioned, until the pain goes away.
There is supposedly a medicine that should eliminate the pain. However, this medicine is always unavailable or there are some circumstances that don't allow
...
the heroine to properly take it. Very convenient for our mister masseur. At least, he has a bit of humility and knows he’s doing something that would normally cross the line.
The author knows how to draw his characters, I give him that (or her, as the case may be). Unfortunately, the artstyle alone couldn’t keep me reading further. After chapter 10 I was unable to pay proper attention and ultimately dropped it after chapter 20.
Only for the purposes of this review, I checked the last chapter to see how it ends. It seemed that at least it has some conclusion and feels complete. But is it worth it? For me, certainly not...
Pros:
+ artstyle
Cons:
- stupid premise
- comedy based on senseless misunderstandings
- offers virtually nothing
- violates its own rules (the disease doesn’t seem to be ‘rare’)
Double-edged:
+/- pretty harmless, but very pervy manga
+/- conclusive story, but the journey there is painful
2/10 (HORRIBLE)

For those who don't know, the show is based off of an erotic visual novel. For those who know, don't expect similar content as in the visual novels. Most of the development in visual novels is cut from the anime adaptation – story progress, character development, romance (and no sexual content either; just occasional pervy jokes from Cinnamon). Expect just a simple slice of life comedy with a lot of cuteness and catgirls we already know from the novels.
With the introduction of an anime original catgirl (Cacao), the show got at least some original content. First 3-4 episodes are focused on this new catgirl and
...
how she is getting used to living with other catgirls along with Kashou and Shigure.
Then the show takes its slice of life episodic pattern, which is a bit of a shame. Because of this, the show lost its momentum and became more plain with no direction or aim. Just random shenanigans and cute moments with the catgirls; though, occasionally has some references to some key story parts of the novel.
With the lack of story progress, characters also develop only a little bit. All characters have their basic traits like in the novel (like Azuki & Coconut always fighting), but without further depth to the characters (like Azuki & Coconut coping with each other and the reasoning behind it).
The show is a decent introduction to the whole franchise, however, for the best experience, visual novel is highly superior. Don’t forget to pick your favorite catgirl...
(...My favorite is Maple).
Pros:
+ cute show with many catgirls
+ Cacao and her ‘story arc’
Cons:
- lost momentum after few episodes
- catgirls are developed as characters only a little
Double-edged:
+/- not hilarious, but also not dull
+/- visual novel is superior; the show has references on parts of the novel
