A critique of chainsaw man talking about anti imperialism, or gun culture, or capitalism is just as valid as the way you (or I for that matter) read it. Interpreting a peice of media isn't "playing smart" or being a psuedo intellectual, you offer an interpretation when you read something literally.
I think its very specific to one person and I don't want to pick on them too much but they do have good points. I may have just vented because of their absurdity sometimes.
Its this recent post that I could also dissect on what I'm talking about.
It goes on about the number 2, which sounds fine in at first. It can represent the good ol trope of duality of man in this second part of CSM with Denji having a doppelganger and Asa having the personified Yoru inside her head (? - I question this because Fami and Nayu can also talk to her?) Or the two contradictory statements of marriage and adults lol. It first starts informative of the cults which is good - I know nothing about cults in Japan, so its very interesting to read that it's prominent in Japan.
But it quickly derails with posting many panels having images of two things or the duality of situations.
To me it doesn't make sense but I can also infer that reading too much into the number 2 is equivalent to a numbers religion. I've had people talk to me about how they have a constant reoccurring number that reflects their soul and their potential soulmate. Something similar to zodiac astrology in America...
Which reflects with what she said earlier "When it's the other way around, the church is exploiting the fact that high-school students are just thinking too much. And if there's one thing that saves Denji, it's that he thinks less."
Like, thats it. You're thinking too much about the literal number 2 in every panel. So what about this panel?
It only has one finger pointed up.
So does this person not self-reflect and say "am I overthinking this?" Hell, even I can say I'm overthinking this. I'm getting headaches over here lol
But it mostly bothered me because this person decided to degrade a previous conversation with "I'm getting my masters degree in economics, therefore I have more say in this". and its like, bruh. We are reading a comic, we should be on the same level for a comic.
Sorry if its tl;dr. I just have a lot to vent about.
