About your interrogation if it's of actuality, of course no it would have made no difference if you were or were not alive. Which leads to the point of life : your own survival. When you think of it, surviving societies existed before ours, hencewhy their purpose was happiness and survival of men before. So you should be happy and survive in society if you were to accomplish the role society would want to give to you (it tends to systematize it, even when in times you feel special in society).
Death note is an anime I think everyone should watch at some point and is probably what i'd recommend to most people new to anime. Cowboy Bebop, attack on Titan are also good starter anime. Apparently so is Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, but I never finished it.
As for personal favourites I really enjoyed Code Geass, Psycho Pass, My Hero Academia, Requiem for the Phantom, School Rumble, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Initial D, Noragami, Maid Sama and.... Love Live.
Well, only Kenpuu Denki in what I listed was a horror, however for the comedies and adventures the last three would suit you best. I'm not sure how much into battle shounen you are, but Fairy Tail is quite pleasant as a comedy/adventure.
Glad you're enjoying Champloo though! It was directed by the same guy that did Cowboy Bebop, Shinichiro Watanabe. Dude is a legend throughout anime, tbh.
