Have you ever felt like you're inferior at someone else in something, and no matter what you do, you'll never be as good as them?
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (The pet girl of Sakurasou) is a romantic comedy, slice-of-life anime that tackles this issue. Its the story of the students living in the dorm Sakurasou, a place where the talented/problematic students are casted to develop their talents and not bother the other students. Our protagonist, Kanda Sorata, has been sent to this dorm because he was keeping a cat in the regular dorms, which was against school rules. When a new student known as Shiino
...
Mashiro arrives at the dorm, Kanda is tasked to take care of her, and that's where the story starts.
Story (9/10)
Without giving spoilers as much as possible, I would say that the story is fantastic. Although it is labelled as a romantic comedy, the main theme is the difference between TALENTS and regular people. The story of how regular people strive to do their very best, how these TALENTS complete these tasks easily and better than the regular people, how these regular people handle the stress with these TALENTS, and finally, when the TALENTS experience failure. Everyone has experienced such incidents before, and hence it is easy to relate and can really impact your way of thinking.
Given all that, the show handles comedy extremely well, breaking up tense moments but at the same time not taking you out of the experience.
The storytelling might be only slightly confusing at times though, but it doesnt affect much.
Art (10/10)
I might be slightly biased for this part, because the studio that did the art for this anime is J.C. Staff, the studio that did the art for my favourite anime, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. The characters look rather similar in a way. In addition, the character's expressions are so well done that it is so easy to see how they are feeling, even without them having to say it.
Sound (9/10)
The background music is good, but they aren't as impactful as I would've liked. The 2 OPs and 2 EDs however, are very well done, catchy, and can make me skip a beat. :D
Character (10/10)
The main thing about Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo is that Sakurasou is not Sakurasou without its colourful characters. Each character has their own personality, and are believable, to the point that you can look at the characters and say, "I see myself in them." There are also quite a few relationships in the show, and each of them are different. (I'll stop here, so as not to spoil the characters.)
Enjoyment (10/10)
As you can tell, I really enjoy this anime, laughing plenty of the time but still able to be emotional when the time calls for it. And I can say this anime really changed my perspective of the world around me.
Overall (9/10)
If I enjoyed it so much, why only 9/10? I feel that that the story while is awesome, is lacking something since sometimes the storytelling can be slightly confusing at times and you might miss something. I can't wait for the second season which I believe is possible.
BUT! GO AND WATCH IT NOW! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
(This is my first review! If you could, give it a thumbs up! ^.^)
