A lot of anime out there really suck. In fact I'm surprised by the amount of manga that get a green light to be turned into anime; the manga themselves, in most cases, may not be crap, but when they get turned into anime many are just plain bad. However, every so often an excellent anime comes around and that's what I look forward to.
By the way: Everything in my anime list having a score of 8+ is definitely recommended to watch, with 9 being really good, and 10 being those few anime that are just plain awesome.
