An avid anime viewer.
My rating system:
10 - An all time favorite of mine. A 10 does not necessarily equate to "perfect" as I've never seen an anime or any other art medium that I would consider perfect. But an anime I give a 10 to at least comes pretty close in my eyes. An anime I give a 10 to is one that I consider to have plenty of replay value as well as one that I can connect to on a conceptual and emotional level. While a 10/10 anime may have flaws, the good in the show is more than sufficient to outweigh them in my eyes.
9 - Still an anime that I would easily list among my favorites but falls just short of being what I would consider to be a "pillar" of perennial excellence. More often than not, I will give an anime a 9 if I consider it to be highly enjoyable, if not superb, but one that I still want more from. Usually, this means I find the anime to be too short.
8 - A very good anime, if not a great anime. Solid all around with still a good amount of replay value. I usually give 8's to animes that I love kicking back and watching on a Friday night with a pizza. I don't look to these animes for the aforementioned perennial excellence I would give to the "10" animes but rather just guaranteed enjoyment from beginning to end.
7 - This score would go to an anime that I can still find enjoyment in and could easily go back and watch again if I felt compelled to do so. However, while an anime that gets this score is one that I can enjoy watching from beginning to end, chances are I would not actively go out of my way to rewatch it.
6 - An anime that I give this score to is not likely to be one that I watched of my own volition but rather one that I decided to pick up at the recommendation of another as opposed to my own desire. Animes that I give this score to are typically still watchable from beginning to end for me though I probably had to force myself to sit through the whole thing. By my standards, this is still a passing score and the lowest passing score I give any anime.
5 - If I don't give this score to an anime that I finished from beginning to end, then this is the highest score that I would give to an anime that I dropped. Animes that get this score from me are usually, at worst, shows that don't pass my "3 episode test" and I don't get around to finishing. If I do give this score to an anime that I finished, I typically regret watching it and if I could, I would tell my past self to skip it.
4 - The anime is boring. If I give this score to an anime I didn't drop, it had enough redeeming qualities (a term I use loosely in this case) to not be a complete failure but not enough to outweigh its flaws in order to be what I consider to be passable.
3 - Very not good. An anime I give this score to without dropping would be one that has one or two positive attributes such as art or animation but not enough to salvage what is otherwise a bad show.
2 - Actively bad. At this point, watching this show is painful for me and if I give this score to a show I didn't drop, it's possible that I'm a masochist.
1 - Harambe didn't die for this.
