Ken Ishikawa died on November 15, 2006. He was a Japanese manga artist and renowned as the co-creator, with Go Nagai, of the Getter Robo anime series, as well as four of their subsequent manga continuations.

He collapsed at a dinner banquet, after a day of golf, and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead according to his mentor, Go Nagai.

He put getter robo arc on hiatus back in 2003, which was 3 years before his death. He clearly wanted a break from Getter Robo to focus on other things, and I can't blame him, giving the toxic work culture in japan, where people there only get 3 hours of sleep.

I didn't fully understand how tragic his death was until reading Getter Robo Arc. He obviously had big plans that he wanted to carry out and the world will never know them.
