@SaroArsten Yes imagine using ANN too. And then checking with Japanese sources written less than 2 months before the show's release. And having some common knowledge about how anime production works...

"but never actually participated."

If you could actually give a source about her dropping out of the project? And some info about her replacement series composer too while you're at it... Because the only link given here is to the credits of an individual episode--which of course only mentions that episode's individual scriptwriter.
There's the general staff credits on the official site of course - but they're very clearly limited mentioning absolutely no scriptwriters at all (or storyboard artists) other than "Original story: Bones, Shinichiro Watanabe" which is safe to assume means concept--since that's what "original story" nearly always means, and it's been marketed day 1 that this show is based on Shinichiro Watanabe's own concept.
Since you seem confident she "never actually participated" please actually give a source detailing that... It should be easy, right? The lead writer--a rather famous one at that--dropping out of a big original project should have made news, been posted about or explicitly announced somewhere. And her replacement, newly announced (since he or she would definitely want that done).

It shouldn't be very unusual, by the way, that someone who worked primarily in pre-production, is no longer advertised or mentioned as much once full production work is under way... There'd then be more relevant artists to name, and in Aya Watanabe's case it seems very likely that she wasn't too hands on (if at all) after pre-production was over given how she never took complete charge of any individual episode's script herself. If I had to guess, she was probably busy elsewhere with her upcoming drama that was being produced around the same time, and was only called in to work on the draft/overarching screenplay.

@Zaugr imagine actually thinking MAL is a source for staff credits. She was announced to be the main writer of the show and added by MAL because of that, but never actually participated.

It's hilarious how people are criticizing her script writing for Carole & Tuesday when she actually hasn't written a single episode so far.

Angry_Anime_Nerd | Apr 27, 2019 3:35 PM
Needs to improve on Carole and Tuesday. I'm not going to blame her since this is her first anime but the execution and writing in that show is mediocre and cliched. It's a mixed bag so far.
