Kayono has been accused of plagiarism. One accusation has been that she copied and traced famous Calvin Klein ads, as well as scenes from a yaoi series by TAKASHIMA Kazusa.

However, Calvin Klein hasn't sued her and she won the lawsuit brought against her by TAKASHIMA Kazusa.

Can't believe she won the lawsuit against Takashima... Well, when you have money and connections it's probably easy, but it's just unfair.

ugh I can't believe that Takashima's works are discontinue because a mediocre artist that can't even do her own shit and has her mother to help her out >.> and due to you copying only your artwork is good, but art work still shit so hah >.> hope you rot in your trash ughhhhh!!!!!!

Nice to see this plagiarist's career never progressed.

surprised to see so much hate for her story and characters in the comments here! i absolutely love lovenista and i thought the plot /characters were quite good, though i haven't read any of her other works.

So pissed off that plagiarists like this good-for-nothing, talentless loser get off squeaky clean because of status when the ones in the right are left in the dust to start their careers ALL OVER AGAIN. I just feel so bad that such a talented mangaka's career is jeopardized by some selfish little b!tch who can't even come up with anything for herself. Isn't it great how the rich can always pay to get what they want? Sigh...

I haven't read any of this classless Kayono's work and do not plan to, but a look through her manga titles on MAL/Google says enough. Not only are her plots disgustingly cliche and BS, but also her artwork is inconsistent. Just a few good looks at her manga covers is enough to tell you that -- all of them are crazy different. Sure, mangakas improve with practice/dedication, but not to the point that you can't even recognize that it's their work. Inconsistency in work is proof that you're not ready for a field in drawing manga -- you do not have a solid ground or confidence in your skill and will easily fall, as Kayono did, falling into plagiarism to keep her going. Pathetic.

I'm just so pissed off with the whole plagiarism thing... It doesn't look like she has created much, if any, work recently. Also she doesn't update her blog much anymore (would love translations!) and I can only imagine it's been hard for her to find work :( Shame on Kayono. I hope she undergoes the same fate Kazusa did, but worse.

her stories are plotless ..
can't actually compare her w/ kazusa takashima ..cuz shes too bad to be compared w/ her.

About the plagiarism I`m not gonna make a comment about it but her mangas
are not good at all. I`ve read many of her works and my conclusion is that she has a great art but her mangas has the worst characters ever. Their personality, way of behaving and so on are pretty bad. + her female characters always have huge breasts.

I'm not about to defend all the accusations of plagiarism but for those who keep saying she traced things, look at the images again and you realize positions are slightly different. This leads me to believe she used the pictures as a reference which is something lots of artists do.

As for the Calvin Klein ad, no one can deny it was copied (legs look a little wider and he looks a little thinner just on initial inspection, so once again used as reference) but in this case who really cares? A one off ad, no matter how iconic it is, is still just a single storyless picture. If it weren't for the earlier claims of plagiarism then we would all just be thinking it was inspired by that ad.

Honestly. The least she could have done to save face was say something like 'Kazuna sensei was a [huge] source of inspiration' or some BS like that. Anyone can take a picture, trace it, and add a few modifications.
