A dark world full of monsters where both of them have suffered because of it. But they are different from each other, while Goblin Slayer doesnt' fight with the hate and madness like Guts, and he is not the one that will save the world, he is only a normal human, the only thing he can think of is ways to kill Goblins, he has no friend, no family, no dreams. Because of his lack of skill he search and are prepared to almost every situation, he will use poison, gas and everything on his hand to kill all Goblins.

In the history, there is always moments depicted as monster raid, and the protagonist needs to be ready for that. In both mangas there is goblin to slay, in one much more than the other XD. The protagonist is also linked with the adventure guild, and have a lot of companions

Goblin Slayer and Hai to Gensou no Grimgar are both a take on the action, fantasy genre. Where they differ from other popular light novels available, however, is in their grounded realism. There is still magic to be found within both stories, but the worlds in which they operate are much more brutal and unforgiving—where even the lowliest monster is never to be underestimated. They both make for refreshing reads with Hai to Gensou no Grimgar focusing more on characterisation and introspection; whilst Goblin Slayer is more unadulterated dark fantasy.

Both have similar worlds and are about a warrior and spriest team taking quests from the adventurer guild. In the first volume of broke mercenary, it was all about goblins and a few characters and scenes felt like it was copied from Goblin slayer. If you like one, you'll like the other. While some elements are almost copies of the other novel, they're just too few to be truly problematic.
