Both are Death Game stories that feature a twist on the classic genre. There is graphic violence and are both set in high schools. Both feature a Battle-Royale element as characters try to understand and play the game. 

Both are high stakes play or lose scenarios focusing on a young adult cast in a intense atmosphere where anything can happen and both share striking artstyles as well too. 

In a similar vein to King's Game, Touhyou Game is about students that are forced to play a popularity contest. At first it was set up by the class clown as a bonding exercise, but then it is discovered that the person who loses the round or doesn't vote will die in a brutal accident/suicide.
