Literally almost the same concept.a typical comedy slice of life story blends with an fantasy genre. a geeky MC meets an upbeat dragon living in an urban modern town, they became close friends. and more dragons also appear as the story progresses.

Both are similar in that they have humans trying to coexist with a fantastically race with different values. Though it is much more at the front of maid dragon and could be argued that it’s the crux of the story. In Demon mother it is a supporting theme to the motherly themes which are more prevalent. Both have some similar archetypes especially in the character taking care of the fantastical characters.

The first part of the plot, in terms of anime, till season 1, is a carbon copy of the plot. It is arguably one of the best reverse isekai manga out there. The story is the same: a dragon from another world comes to this world injured and, by chance of fate, meets an overworked drunk office worker who rescues her, and as a token of appreciation, the dragon decides to work at her house as a maid. It is a downright amazing storyline, and it is a calm and steady slice-of-life storyline with some freakishly good fighting scenes, making it an all-around good manga  read more

they both involve monster girls and they are both comedy's with short chapters. but the style is also similar in my opinion, there both light harded comedy's.

literally ALMOST the same concept.a typical comedy slice of life story blends with an fantasy genre. a geeky MC meets an upbeat dragon living in an urban modern town, they became close friends. and more dragons also appear as the story progresses. (there are some perverted ecchi/fanservices in Dragon maid, but in The Dragon Next Door there's no fanservices/ecchi at all)

This is a low recommendation you can skip this. Having a story on the theme of the supernatural, this is very interesting. I recommend this for those of you who like Youkai / mythical creatures.

- Both mangas are about a cast of characters that don't belong to the normal human society (dragons in one, witches in another) and their daily lives, leading to really fun ''culture shock'' situations. - Both have a focus on comedy and romance. - Both have a character named Kobayashi. - Both seem to have dragons/witches in an office workplace. - Both main characters seem to be quite fond of alcohol. + Main difference is Majo wa Mioji Kara has way less fanservice (barely none) than Kobayashi. But if that's not a big deal to you, and you liked the rest, you'll probably like the other.

Fantasy-oriented SOL comedies featuring mythological creatures living in the real world (in the case of Kobayashi-san, dragons). Some shoujo ai undertones are present throughout as well as fanservice. Although one is different and probably more drama-focused than the other, they all make for a relaxing read.
