How do we come to acknowledge others who are too different from us? Humans and yōkai (and each individual relative in these particular groups) are vastly different from one another, and it is in this difference that misunderstandings come about and stereotypical images are formed. However, in the midst of this glaring gap in beliefs, the characters are propelled into the sphere of acceptance and, consequently, grow. These are stories of empathy and broadening of worldview using human-yōkai, human-human, yōkai-yōkai interactions in times of straightforward helplessness and even in mundane happenings in life.

Fukigen and Yohaji both deals with youkai,both each have two main male characters.Ashiya is a lot like Abe, Abeno is a lot like Sano, and they share a crossover together!

Main character is newly learning about another world, be it fey or youkai. The stories are a bit episodic with some overarching plot. If you enjoyed the otherworldly creatures from either series, you'll likely enjoy the other series as well.

"Common guy" MC stumbles into blonde guy's occult business and they end up changing each other's lives. Blonde guy has to face his past while MC grows and finds out stuff about his own family. The two meet quirky people along the way and it's hard to tell at first if they are friends or foes (is the world really so black and white though?) Sankaku mado has heavier elements and is several steps closer to being a BL, but still not quite. Mononokean seems like a silly and chill fantasy at first, but you might end up changing your mind about that halfway. Both made  read more
