If you're looking for some typical novels with a cliche story and hot girls, then this novel is the way to go. They share the same theme which is a highschool academy for talented mages. They both have magical weapons that gets extracted from the soul. Like typical action/harem novels, the protagonist looks weak, but in reality he's overpowered. It's generic but you might find both very interesting to read. 

While there are bunch light novel with similar genre, both novel especially share many similar premise like main character first encounter main heroine while she is changing in her room. Swordsmanship is MC speciality and considered weak by people at first. Main heroine is (real) princess with flame based magic power. They are attending magic academy with duel and tournament as daily activities. Rivalry between school and of course common harem fans service. as story continue, both novel goes to different direction though.
