Both focus on cute boys, as well as their friendship with each other(along with their mishaps) and also a really lovely to look at pleaseant artstyle too. 

It's not that its similar in the main story for kokoru ni hana wa but it dose have a short story in the middle about a teacher with a rough past who is trying to save a student but in hammer session it's the whole clasd 

they have a similar family feel to them 

They both have very flowery art and story line. They both also have the same manga-ka. If you like the art in this manga then otomen is pretty much the same.
