There is a shinobi, called Kagetora in both manga, who falls in love with the one he has to protect, so it's a forbidden love. There are a few differences though. Kagetora is shounen, while Shinobi Life is shoujo, but they're both romance anime. And in Shinobi Life, there's time traveling. They're both very good and if you like Kagetora, you'll like Shinobi Life too.

Similar on the premise that someone from the mountain comes to the city. In asu no yoichi it is a samarai and in kagetora it is a ninja. Asu no yoichi is a lot more ecchi and less romance than kagetora.

There is a master and servant relationship, but it is barely noticeable in kagetora while is it really prominent in zero no tsukaima. While reading they evoke the same emotions.'

They are both harems but love hina is more so. They reason why I say they are a good recommendation is better then evoke the same emotions in he readers.

They both have Ninjas protecting a klutzy girl

The main characters are ninja who protect a klutzy girl who is more special then she appears. Flame of Recca has more action to it, but both are pretty romantic.
