Season 1 of [The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Swordmaster] has finished, so I decided to write a review with my thoughts so far.

Art - [9/10]
The art in this manhwa is quite good. The characters look unique from each other, the outfits are nicely designed, and all of the panels are just great to look at. The art is probably my favourite part of this manhwa. You can clearly see that the manhwa artist put a lot of effort into their drawings. It's not like Solo Leveling's art (literal 10/10), but it's pretty dang close to perfect (at least ... in my opinion, people's opinions on art may vary).

Story - [7/10]
The story starts off pretty nicely, emphasizing the MC's hatred for his boss in his past life. The story tells us that he wants revenge, since his boss killed him. My only issue with the story is that I'm almost 40 chapters in, and after the first few chapters, there has been no mention of revenge... The MC is still in his training arc even though this manhwa has been publishing for a while already. Progression feels a bit slow. I am hoping that when this manhwa gets off hiatus and continues publishing in season 2, the training arc will end and the MC will focus on the actual revenge.

Enjoyment - [8/10]
Enjoyment may vary from person to person, but I personally enjoyed it quite a bit, despite the slow character development and progression. The art is really what made it the most enjoyable for me.

So, would I recommend it? Sure.

TLDR: Art is great, story is a quite slow, but it's a fun read, so give it a go.

Generic Korean isekai story. The mc reincarnates after dying from OP antagonist. In his second life he wants to become strong to seek revenge. He has an op cheat ring, system, powerful demon king as a pet, and "genius" level talent, the list goes on. He is treated terribly in his first life so he has the "mentality" to push through any challenge even when he has no stamina left. Every time he suffers, he gains buffs to his stats for enduring. As for his new life? It's also generic. His ... new family is a powerful noble clan. His mother is pitiful but loving, the patriarch is a typical father-tsundere, and the nobles look down on him and treat him as an outcast. He has an early rival (the direct bloodline) and an early fmc. All the other characters don't really matter. As a carbon-copy isekai, the execution is an 8/10. After dozens of factory made reincarnation stories, authors have become fluent and experienced at meshing together cliques. However, there are still better stories like D*mn Reincarnation. As a fleshed out experience? The actual story is a 1/10, nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, I filled my isekai bingo sheet within 10 chapters.

Conclusion: Read it if you like isekai? Idk.

In a nutshell, it's pretty boring. Classic reincarnation story, where the MC has to work hard from the bottom since he's weak, but in truth he's actually OP and gets strong really quickly. First few chapters make it seem like the story would be more interesting, as the MC was originally an assassin who got betrayed in his past life, and he wants to take revenge. But this plot point seems to just disappear somewhere throughout the story and all we get are 'Oh I've heard of this dangerous man in my past life'. Remove the part about his past life and the story wouldn't ... change one bit. It's as if nothing carried over from his past life.

Character-wise is exactly the same. Supposed assassin feels nothing like an assassin. Girl with a traumatic past looks up to him and becomes his 'disciple'. Random rivals that only make the MC look better. A blue blob who only ends up as comedic relief. None of them are interesting or entertaining.

Art is good, in that there's not much special about it. It looks generic enough that it is virtually indistinguishable from other manhwas. Fight scenes don't stand out, character design doesn't stand out, nothing stands out.

It's a cliched trope and story, but doesn't have a niche that other manhwas might have.
