In these two serialisations, there is heavy emphasis on class battles. What is more is that battles between classes take on unorthodox forms. In Mx0, magic is used; whereas in Baka to Test, avatars are summoned to fight in an RPG style.

Quite obviously, these 2 mangas have main characters who are idiotic, strong and very very funny. Although the premise are largely different, the way in which these 2 present their comedies have similar traits. If you love one it is likely you'll love the other.

Both special schools seem to treat their students badly who're are rank below them and both our protagonist are in the bottom ranks Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e seem to be more harsher than Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

TOO MUCH MOE IN BOTH! If you love that feeling inside that you get when you see moe, then you'd love either of these mangas.

Both revolve around school that allow students to engage in combat using avatars.

These two action series revolve around a school setting where combat occurs amongst students using summoned beings.

Despite featuring very different aesthetics, both titles feature specialised schools which rank students according to their proficiency in regard to particular subjects (magic in Mahouka Koukou, and normal subjects in Baka Test). Moreover, both also depicts discrimination of lower ranked students across all levels within the school setting.

Although the aesthetic and narrative of these two serialisations are not that similar, they both share a strong emphasis on group battles. In Fairy Tail, battles are often between two or more guilds; whereas in Baka to Test, these are facilitated between two or more classrooms.
