Episodic series that explore the darker/unpleasant parts of human nature. A supernatural/omniscient character travels in various times and places.

Series of one-shots with recurring characters and a philosophical outlook. They both deal with topics such as death and the reason for living in a positive sort of way, though Ningyou Shibai is more hopeful. The recurring characters are not human, and teach people about these things (though the boy in Fushigi na Shounen is still learning them himself).

Both manga feature an immortal child who interferes in the lives of others. There is an unsettling feeling in both. The chapters are episodic, focusing on the child and a group of people in the "real world".

Well both are pretty psychological, exploring human nature as well as having a super-human boy as a lead. The art is very similar as well. However, the way both mangas are presented (Wonder Boy as a one-shot anthology, ES as a series) is different.
