Both titles are very similar in that they depict a cute straight high school relationship dealing with a fantasy kind of disability. While Senryuu Shoujo has a girl with 5-7-5-based mutism, the boy in KanoKao is half-ghost and thus lacks a head. In both, the other side of the relationship is very energetic and seeing the best in the other's situation, while everyone around them goes with the flow of their limitations and peculiarities and just have nice dynamics together. If you like Senryuu Girl but want something more wrapped up and focused, go for KanoKao, as the relationship is stabilished in the first two chapters and it has already run its relatively concise 34 chapters run. If you like the dynamic of tomboy girl and shy boy, there's even more reason to read KanoKao. If you like KanoKao but love to relish in some drawn out mutual pining and related shenanigans, you can't miss it with Senryuu Shoujo. As an aside, both SS's Eiji and KanoKao's Mutou are very dateable boys imho. Scary looking boys that are actually full of heart, kindness and sensitivity? Do looks really matter? It is quite known people judge each other by appearance, and the more attractive you are, the further you get in life, apparently. Every so often, you hear someone say that they fell in love with another because "He's smart" or "She's kind" when in reality, they're just after their appearance. But what happens when you don't have any looks? These two manga are similar in the fact that the main male protagonists don't have any faces. With one being a youkai with no face, and the other being a half-ghost, with no head at all. They are quite anxious about their own appearances, but then the female protagonists come to play. They don't mind at all, and they both fall in love with their respective partners, truly for their personalities. They show us that they are indeed some people who can fall in love with you, no matter what you look like (or don't look like). read more
