Synopsis

Hailing from the countryside, Yuuki Haiga, an endearing and approachable freshman, quickly adapts to university life, easily making friends and winning the favor of girls. But senior Ryou Hanae is the only person that manages to leave Haiga awestruck: with his glorious long hair, stunning features, and incredible musical talent, Hanae finds a lasting spot in Haiga's mind.

When Haiga loses a bet against his friends, he finds himself at a box spa—a secluded place that offers intimate same-sex services. Fostering lingering doubts about being bisexual, Haiga sees this as an opportunity to come to a definitive answer. However, in his nervous state, Haiga is unaware that he bought time with none other than his beautiful senior, Hanae.

All Haiga asks for is an honest conversation about sexual identity, but Hanae insists on a more hands-on approach. Unable to stay away, Haiga continues returning for more, but he must determine if his feelings are genuine love or merely admiration.

Background

Pink Heart Jam was simpub digitally in English by Fantasista Inc. through futekiya since the release of chapter 2 on December 24, 2020. The volumes have been published by SuBLime since December 12, 2023.

The series went on hiatus after the release of the first chapter due to the publisher and author's concerns over pirated fan translations. Serialization resumed when the English simulpub began.

You can read this in just one day -or let's say within a short time period- trust me!
If you like Yaoi(BL) this will absolutely catch you as it did for me.

There are a few aspects that back up my opinion. On the one hand it is the unique story/plot and on the other hand the character design. You won't have the typical "trust-issue" arc as in "you looked at another man, we'll break up", which I find mostly annoying, and the MC won't deny having interest in man. This manga was nothing short of amazing. Since this is my first review, I don't know how helpful this would be but hang in there, I've got some good stuff to talk about this manga.

- Character design: I started reading this manga for Ryo but I really enjoyed the general character design of it too much to drop it. I usually go for the mangas with character designs I would like and Pink Heart Jam certainly didn't disappoint. The way Haiga was portrayed was beautiful and he soon became my favourite character, along with Ryo (sorry not ready to let him go yet).

Pink Heart Jam is a refreshing read from the usual dramatic BL that we are so used to read. In fact, there isn’t much drama to begin with. Just the story of two young adults falling in love and learning about themselves.

You have Haiga on one side, a freshman in university, who isn’t entirely convinced about his sexuality; and on the other you have Kanae, a senior in university, who knows very well who he is attracted to and would like to have a romantic partner.
