@Retro8bit oh someone else who made the account in 2008! I ended up deleting because I thought I got tired of anime. Deleted it back in 2013 and since then had another 2 accounts. It's way too easy to delete online accounts nowadays. A few clicks and you're on your way to not having any online presence. Which is what I probably wanted too, beside the no anime watching phase.

Happy to report I made progress with both Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu and Hataraku Saibou! I'm glad I got back to anime. Maybe I won't leave in the next 10 years. After that, I would have watched most good anime, so I'm either going for manga or go back to dramas fully.

In fact, I just remembered I couldn't delete my account back then as there was no option for that. But I did delete everything on it and then renamed it to @thisisover.

Ah interesting interesting! The reason why I ask is because your username looks kind of familiar, and judging by the number of posts you made on your original account from 2008, now make sense to me. Assuming you used the same username back then at least. I was curious as to how you had deleted your account, because as you said deleting accounts wasn't a thing back on MAL during those early days. Do you still have access to it? Or do you just wish to start out fresh?

@Retro8bit Nah I don't want to go back to my old account. It's totally fine. Although it's tempting to recover it because it has an older join date, the original as it were. Other than that, I'm happy to have a new account. Got the same username as back then so it's fine. I do remember your username! No wonder it was so familiar. I'm quite sure you remember say, tehnominator? She was an amazing reviewer here.

Ahhh yes I thought your username looked familiar! I absolutely remember Technominator. She was the number one anime reviewer on this website for many many years. Sadly it seems like she lost interest in the website back some years ago. Do you ever know why she ended up deleting most of her reviews? I always wondered. I assumed some sort of drama must have transpired.

@Retro8bit hmm I'm not sure. I talked to her back then but she only said she deleted them. I can't remember exactly what she said beside that. It's been like 12 years since I talked to her. Wherever she is, I hope she's okay.

I feel the same! I used to chat with her back in the day as well, but I never got the nerve to actually ask why she deleted them. I figured it was more for personal reasons, or the fact that it was probably getting her account a lot of unwanted attention. Last I spoke to her she mentioned she was going to just be rewatching the anime she knows she already likes. My favorite review from her by far was the Mars of Destruction one. It was the popular anime to hate on Mal at the time. XD

@Retro8bit I remember fondly her Aoi Hana review and a few others. It's not just because my username is Aoi_hana. In fact, I just liked blue flowers at the time (cca. 2007). I had made this username for a local anime forum site back then. Also had a matching email address from Yahoo.

I think Nomi won't be coming back to MAL, probably ever. Even so, I do check her account once in a while. People keep posting comments even now.

Yes I do recall her reviewing that anime, though I can't recall how she worded her review. Did she add a lot of humor to it? Because I know she certainly did when it came to Mars of Destruction. Interesting, I love hearing how everybody came up with their own unique username. Fitting! 🤗

It is nice that she hasn't been truly forgotten, maybe someday she will make her triumphant return.

Maybe she will, who knows. She probably still watches anime, just not any of the new stuff. /shrugs

Man I didn't realize it was that small of a number, for some reason I thought she had at least around like 15 to 20 so left. But hey, at least your favorite reviews from her are still up!

True, plus she could also be suffering from burnout or just has other things going on in her life at the moment. By the way, this was such a nice conversation, I very rarely get to chat with other old school individuals on here who remember the early days of MAL! Thank you! 🙏

Burnout is common nowadays, it would be unfortunate if she went through that. Anime burnout is easier on you, but still. It took me like 2 years to come back to anime. And I still don't watch it as when I was in high school cca 2008-2012 lol I may never watch anime like those times and that is completely fine.
