Canon is the main story that you have to watch and filler is a side story that you don’t have to watch.

Canon episodes are those episodes that are in the manga and are relevant to the story . Filler episodes are those episodes that aren't actually in the manga but in the anime to give the mangaka ( manga writer ) extra time to get a bit further . The manga should always be atleast 20-30 chapters ahead and if the anime is getting very close to the manga , the show gives some filler episodes .

what do you think is anime canon in the one piece anime almost everything in the anime is adapted from the manga and within those 1014 episodes toei kept only adapting the manga with only a little bit are anime original. i guess you can see them as canon for yourself but they are not from the manga

canon means straight from the manga or ln/wn
filler well just filler episodes so the anime doesn't catch up to the manga

anime creates its own arcs based on the original story, anime canons are approved by original story's author. even it only happens in anime, and not in manga or light novel, it considered like manga canon. because it is part of the original story

fillers are absolutely nothing to do with original story, they are not approved by the author

anime canons and fillers are not the same thing, they are way different

One Piece is pretty much all cannon, but that's why it has debilitating pacing issues.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

"Anime canon" means that it isn't in the manga, but still has some effect on the plot. Whether you can skip them or not depends on the episodes themselves.

For example, episodes 213-216 are 100% filler, but the anime changed and rearranged the LRLL arc in a way that directly ties these episodes into the plot. They can be skipped because they don't contain any manga content (and they kinda suck imo) but if you did skip them you were probably a bit confused. (Btw I'm using animefillerlist.com to look up which episodes count as anime canon)

418-420, 453-456 and 497 contain mostly manga canon content and can't be skipped, they are just extended in the anime.

498 has like 2 pages of manga content, but most of it is filler. 499 is 100% filler. You can skip 498 and 499.

506 is mostly filler but shouldn't be skipped because it ties into the story very well.

737 is a mix of manga canon and anime original content, but Oda himself worked on the script and all of it is canon.

775 is just filler, can be skipped.

Anime canon are episodes that don’t adapt content from the manga but due to the anime making some type of structure change the anime will not make sense if you don’t watch it

Anime canon is relevant to the story but was not included in the manga. Mostly used to give the characters more depth and explain things in more detail. Filler is just some random bullshit (not bulshit incase of onepiece) studios make to make the anime longer and give the manga more time to produce source material.

anime canon is things that are only canon in anime. This is a term used for animes which are very different from the manga. Probably.
