Paradigm City - Paradigm City is an "artificial" reality, playing out as a program or "play" on a "stage". At a certain time in each incarnation of Paradigm, the memory of the key programming activates and utilizes Big Venus to erase Paradigm and reset the program. The repeated proccess results in the reality becoming "more real" with each try, until it can be satisfactorily concluded that the current world is real enough to continue existence. Evidence of this can be found in the discussion between Roger and Gordon Rosewater in episode 13, "R-D", as well as several flashbacks/visions in which there are depictions of at least two different Paradigms, and the leftover material left over from "before 40 years ago", like wasted structures around the city. Or rather, it becomes harder to reincarnate Paradigm without the remains of the previous still being there, as if a lost civilization had been there. See episodes 4, 7, 12, 13, 17, 23, 24, 25, 26.

Roger Smith - Paradigm City's "negotiator", Roger Smith is something like a human, but not quite. Or, at least, he is different from ordinary humans. He was around when the domes were being built and accepted a contract from Gordon Rosewater to negotiate with the "director" of the world they live in. He bleeds like a human, but a flash/vision seems to show mass-produced Roger robots. It's not clear whether he is a specialty android, a cyborg like Alan Gabriel, or something entirely different. His role in the simulated reality seems to be to reason with the key programming for the sake of the shaping of the next version of Paradigm.

Tomatoes - 25 years before the show begins, Gordon Rosewater had memories of the governing committee of Paradigm City (somehow) implanted into several children from an orphanage. The purpose was to see if these children could remember things that occured before 40 years prior. The experiment was a failure - the children grew up only remember as far as after what happened 40 years ago. Many of them were cast out of Paradigm, and became the Union. Some power (either the Union or Alex Rosewater) hired Dr. Wayenright to build an assassin android to kill them (R-D). They were assassinated by R-D, who was ultimately destroyed by the Big O when trying to kill Roger Smith. One of the valued tomato children was brought up as Gordon's own son - Alex Rosewater.

Union - The cast aside tomato children, the ones who the experiment failed on and couldn't remember any of the things implanted in them by Gordon Rosewater. They formed a spy network that worked in sleeper cells in Paradigm City, but they never had the clout or force they thought they did. Were those "planes" that "bombed" Paradigm City really from the Union? Or was that the lights above the stage falling? There's little evidence of that, other than what Gordon said about them. They seem to believe that there's a "homeland" for them, but there never was. They were only lead to believe that in their confusion.

Androids - It's possible that androids are constructs which were built to interface with megadeuses. Certain androids have a higher capacity for retaining memories and likely have been built so as to be able to interface with Megadeuses like the "Big" series even after several incarnations of Paradigm. The Union sent the Android Crusher android into the city as an attempt to rid Paradigm of any interface that may help Alex Rosewater awaken Big Fau.

#1..Paradigm City being a self rebooting artifical realiy...agreed!
#2..Roger Smith...actually my take was that the real Roger Smith was a military captain/Megaduce plot and co designer of the Paradigm City sym that died in what originality happen forty years ago*the world was completely destroy with only this sym left running*.,the Roger we see in the sym IS a speciality clone design to as*Paradigm City`s negotiator*to pretty much collect any old memories of what life was like forty years age, while makeing new ones for the sake of the sym`s next reboot.,for the purpose of creating a world with a enough memories to sustain a stage that is as close to reality*a real world*as it can get*thats what the flash vision was for*,which would also explain Roger`s*sole*ability to pick up/carry Dorothy, and somewhat explain the romantic attraction they had for eachother, plus his ability to effectly hand to hand fight with Alan Gadriel
#3..Tomatoes..actually the experiment was a success, because in the(R-D)episode it was stated that some of the ones*tomatos* that the R-D android kill were heard saying that they had memories of not only what happen forty years ago,but that they had memories of before forty years ago..my take was that Alex Rosewater felt that such memories of the past would threaten his position/rule as head of Paradigm so he had Dr. Waynewright activate the assassin R-D to kill them
#4..The Union...cast aside tomato children...true!
their belief in that they had a homeland was based on the unknown language*french*they spoke...the planes that bombed Paradigm might have been a memory of a war that happen forty years ago*a war with France maybe*!?????
#5..Androids..my take was that they possibly could have even shared a coexistense with humans...maybe even so far a humans and androids falling in love a getting married..there was that episode where the woman was married to a android*the name escapes me*,and then there was Dorothy question to Roger"*if we both lost our memories, and we met each other would we fall in love?* showing that she had no problem with falling in love with Roger..even though he was a*mere*human.
