Well, it's possible.. The manga was released in 2009, and the short adaptation came out in 2010, which is relatively fast compared to something like Kimi ni Todoke (manga-2006; anime-2009). There probably wasn't that much of a story to work with at the time, but also this is a shoujo series, which doesn't always get adapted completely if at all (based on what I've noticed). Only time will tell.
