I guess Kara no Kyoukai’s just another series not for me. Other than sparse bursts of great music and animation, I honestly can’t find anything remarkable here. A terribly simple story, elongated by largely tedious dialogue and overall slowness, cheaply spiced with a little confusion from shifting episodes around. And filled with senseless characters: the two girl villians of movies 1 and 3, Shiki, and especially Kokutou. The guy seems to have no life but to completely believe in Shiki, no matter what, even after all he sees, even after
Also filled with bits of general nonsense. One example: why did Kokutou camp outside Shiki's house even after she told him she knew he was camping? She could easily leave the light on in her room and exit through a door or window on the opposite side.

If you read my comments in my list, you'll see I was about to drop the series. Watch the 5th one, its by far twice as good as all of the ones that have played so far.

Thanks for your input. I'm on it, but it still doesn't explain the crazy scores here for the first four. Are the 5th and 7th movies really so good that people would go and inflate their scores for the previous four? Even that explanation sounds dumb. Unless, of course, there's something hidden within these four episodes that comes to light later, but I honestly can't see much potential. Everything's pretty much explained except for Kokutou sitting lifeless in movie 1, and this "Araya, Souren" character introduced in movie 4. I think.

You were about to drop it even after giving movies 1 and 4 an 8/10, and 3 a 7/10? Wow, some pretty high standards.

Update:
Finished 7. I really should have stopped at 4. Although 5 and 6 had a few merits, and Remix was a particularly nice watch, 7 was probably the longest pile of nothing that I have ever seen. I expected a little more... anything, but really? Nothing? And Kokutou’s as absurd as ever.

I get not liking the series and all, but saying that nothing happened in the 7th movie rather absurd. I mean, a lot of character development happened, as well as some conclusions and not to mention some awesome as hell action scenes.

But whatever, to each their own I suppose.

To anyone curious why I felt the way I did above, I go into a bit more detail in the first post here: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=393411 (warning: spoilers through 7th movie)

this movies are nothing but remarkably good, I'm sure you couldn't understand most of it but the philosophical aspects of the series makes it absolutely great
