I'm looking for an anime/manga that has a romance plot/backstory that ties in with the main story kinda like how bleach does the whole Ichigo Rukia thing and how Shakugan no Shana was.

The female protagonist has powers and/or is stronger than the male protagonist when they first meet and looks down on him, later the male protagonist develops feelings for the female and gets stronger and ends up protecting her later on.

Is their anything else like this?

(Preferably no shoujo...)

Zero no Tsukaima

Louise is a mage/aristocrat and Saito is a summoned familiar from modern society with no powers. Being a familiar Louise treats Saito like crap, but later on Saito becomes much stronger..
