I'm excited we're finally getting to the interesting parts of Fia's past and how history played out after the death of the Great Saint. Ever since the last volume, I've been curious about Kurtis's comments on the past. And with Volume 5, a lot of my suspicions were confirmed Fia did not actually succeed in sealing the Demon Lord 300 years ago It was also super interesting to learn more about the Demon Lord's right hand man from Kurtis since Fia knew practically nothing. Also related to the writing structure itself, I think I am feeling a little fatigued from all the side stories (ss). I enjoy most of the ss that take place in the past (~300 years ago), but the ones that took place in the present were really lacking. I think the ss bloat is starting to feel really prevalent for me because I feel like they add nothing of substance to the overarching story. For example, the Clarissa and Oria ss just retell the same exact events of the main story from their respective characters' perspectives without much of anything to add. It feels lazy to me. I did really like that last side story however, Cyril being confused with a silent Enoch was so funny to imagine in my head. Overall, I am really looking forward to the next volume and I hope the author is a little more ambitious with their ss in the future. |
