I finished the first season if Demon Slayer last week, and I want to watch more, but I don't know which version of the next arc I'm supposed to watch. On the one hand, the show is nearly an hour longer, meaning it would logically have more content that may or may not factor into the story later on. Lots of people have mentioned a prequel episode, which might just be filler, or it might actually be integral to something that happens later. On the other hand, the movie is, well, a movie, meaning there's no openings, endings, recaps, previews, or anything else in the middle breaking up the pace. Not to mention, even outside of that, I'd imagine the pacing would be better in movie format regardless, with more focus on the action scenes and whatnot. And I don't know how important that prequel episode could really be, seeing as how everyone boards the train at the end of the last episode. And I already know that the show version can't be an outright replacement for the movie version, seeing as how I saw separate BDs of both right beside each other at a Walmart once.

Maybe the correct option is to watch the show version now and the movie version if I ever decide to rewatch the show.

The show version is obviously better given the extra content and the animation being a bit more polished. The prequel episode is absolutely worth the watch as it lends a bit more insight into Rengoku.

If you are not in a hurry to watch the new season, then go with the show, outside of the extra first episode there are some extra scenes that have been cut out from the movie. Now with that said, the movie covered everything that needs to be covered imo, so I would go with the movie. I haven't really felt different about the content whether I watched the movie or show, but the movie had a better flow. Obviously if you are gonna watch all the episodes in a row, it shouldn't matter much.

Episode 1 then the movie.
The episode format has very little extra scenes that are mostly irrelevant. As a tradeoff, they deleted an entire 3 minute sequence from the beginning of the movie, which is actually important.

First episode of the show then the movie. Pacing is very awkward and janky with the show adaptation.

Movie without question. Sure, the show has some extra content. But so does the movie (intro with ubuyashiki in the graveyard) that gives the whole arc a fantastic bookend. The story flows so much better without being chopped up by intros/outros.

First episode then movie.
Mugen train arc isn't a very long arc so the pacing and length was perfect for a movie. Seeing it as a movie would definitely feel like a better experience.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

I would just watch the 1st ep from the series cuz it's new and then watch the movie. You aren't really missing much tho if you just watch the movie after S1. I also think you'll have a funner time with the movie cuz there's no breaks.

Episode one and then the movie. The way the movie was split into episodes just killed the pacing of certain scenes. The movie was great to watch as it was and episode one to the show is a great addition to Rengoku.

First ep of the show and then the movie if you feel like watching it on a sit, if not just watch the show.

If you have time to binge I would recommend the movie as the show left some stuff out and it flows well but shows ok too

I recommend the show, even if the movie is without interruption, seeing it in the form of a show gives you a better experience, as the animations are better, they add extra scenes, you can take your time to watch the various episodes

Bit too late, I already watched the movie a few months ago.

I did watch the first episode of the show version, though.
