As somebody who hasn't even finished s1's content in the books yet, I'd highly highly recommend starting from the beginning. There's a TON of skipped content that really enhances the story and characters even further

Volume 16. Volume 16-20 is translated into English which completed the arc which would be season 3. The rest after that you gotta read on witchcultttranslations

You would start at volume 16 I'm pretty sure. But just so you know, the light novel is only officially translated up to the end of arc 5 (will be season 3 of the anime). The alternative is to read the web novel, which is both free and fan translated basically all the way to the current chapter releases, up to about what would be season 5 of the anime. I'd recommend reading the light novel for arc 5, I haven't but most people say it's better than the web novel counterpart. After that switch to the web novel at https://witchculttranslation.com/ but just so you know there's an important moment at the end of arc 4 that was cut out from the end of season 2 of the anime that you should make sure to read (the Appendix: Advent chapter). If you have questions on translations or anything just look through this https://www.reddit.com/r/Re_Zero/wiki/translation/

Honestly I recommend reading it from volume 1, that's what I did and I can say for sure that it was worth it. There are lots of little bits of content that were not in the anime. My personal favorite thing that was not in the anime are Subaru's thoughts after defeating Petelgeuse. If you don't want to bother start from volume 16, it's the beginning of arc 5.

Start from volume 16, although from what I've heard it wouldn't hurt to start from the beginning.

Read from first volume because a lot of content skipped in Arc 3 (second half of Season 1) is mentioned in Arc 5 (Season 3).

Looking for better series than Re:Zero

start from volume 1; skipped content is worth rereading for, and it lets you get to know the characters better.
