Death Note a 10 until ep 25

Well this isn't controversial but I wanted some thoughts I feel it's still 10 till the end because it was one of the first anime and manga I read

Agreed, this is my fav anime by far, I’ve in been watching anime since late 2020 and since then I’ve completed nearly 200 series and none of them come close, but I can also admit it has flaws, imo it is definitely not the best anime, that would probably go to air or something like that, but it’s still fucking amazing

Overall I’d give the series a 9. Like you said first 25 are awesome and obviously a 10. The next 12 do wrap everything up nicely, but I think because of how good the series was nothing could end it properly. The two new kids trying be L is a cool concept, but it seems like Light got dumber when dealing with them. He underestimated them and i think thats why it wasn’t as interesting seeing him battle with them.

Agreed. First part of the show with L was a 10. Near was such a lame follow-up, I almost dropped the series and convinced myself that the series ended at Ls death.

It was 9/10 for me in first 25 episodes than the next 12 episodes were kinda boring so the overall went from 9 to 7.9/10 for me

I agree i gave it a 10 then changed the rating to 9 after 25 ep.

The first 18 episodes are 10 to me. After that episodes 19-22 were boring when they were catching that businessman and Light regained his memory, then it got real good till episode 25. After that it was good but not a 10. And I hate Near as well

ok first of all i dont really like the way they show in anime that near is smarter than L. after l's death near instantly finds out who kira is. while after 25ep they show light making dumb moves which is totally not like him. i mean how can near defeat light so easily. light is the smartest of all and he proved it by killing L. this is the only flaw that i see in the anime.

honestly tru, if it ended on ep 25 prob a low 9 for me but the end portion solidified it as an 8 for me

I feel the opposite; the N and Mello arc seemed too long and certain parts dragged on more than necessary. The anime did condense a few things like Sidoh's little arc, but that was understandable.

Same for me, first half of anime is perfect but the second is average. The same situation had place in SAO.

If death note ended on episode 25 I’d rate it 10/10. Light v. Near & Mello became very convoluted at times and ended with a Near being clairvoyant. “I knew you knew I knew you knew” type of thing.

I agree kinda, but even after episode 25 it still felt like death note it didnt lose the vibe and also the ending was very cool. So think its a 10/10

I personally think the show peaked right after L died. I know it’s over played but Mello and Near are some of the worst characters to come out of Death Note. Mello was way to unlikable to get behind as a character and Near was too boring he was like L but without anything that made him interesting. Also Light’s death was kind of disappointing. It was well shot and the animation was good don’t get me wrong but Matsuda suddenly being able to take out Light as well as Light losing his cool or Near’s plan that defies any logic the show set up just so he could win is bullshit. I still rate it a 9 but the first half outshines most of those issues and there are still elements of the second half that works but those are the only really issues I had with the show. That’s just my opinion though.

For me it is a 10 all the way, but just the series doesn't feel the same without L, and Light has gone completely crazy too without L to keep him in check
They really need each other to make it all work
Near was fine, but no one can replace L, maybe if Mello and Matt got a little bit more screen time it would've been more fun
