These movies are the alternative versions of the parent story "neon genesis evangelion"

So, can i watch these movies without watching the parent story or do i have to watch that too! Is there any connection between these movies and the series!

Plz clear this out as clearly as u can 🙏

and plz also clear these points as do i need to watch the series for these or these are already in the movie?

I advise watching the original NGE and EOE, then if you’re not someone who’s looking for a 1-to-1 recreation and are fine with an alternate version that’s not the same as the original, go for the rebuilds.

Technically you could but I wouldn’t recommend it because the characters are less fleshed out, and some story elements would feel rushed simply because they have less time in 4 movies than in a 26 episode long anime.

Technically you could watch it alone but you’d get much more out of the rebuilds if you’ve seen the original. Parts in 2.22 especially are much better under the assumption you’ve already watched the original series. The original series+End of Evangelion is also a masterpiece and you should watch it anyway.

The last movie has a LOT of references to the original story...and these movies expect u to have seen the original story...so I would recommend watching the original.
(Also... overall story-wise the original is better)

If you want to know more about the characters and the world, I'd definitely say watch nge and eoe as it might feel a little off watching the rebuilds without doing so, and the original tv series and movie are the best parts of eva so you can't go wrong.

I suppose it's not necessary! The first rebuild movie just retells the beginning of nge. But I do recommend Starting Neon Genesis Evangelion and then End of Evangelion. Then after that the rebuilds. I found that the best watch order and it was quite enjoyable to see how different nge and the rebuild movies are!
