| Tearmoon Empire, like many light novels, started off as a web novel. And in the site hosting the web novel, the author has posted a few lists introducing the characters of the series, which I have taken the liberty of translating. What is especially interesting is that the author juxtaposed the various characters' opinion of Mia during the previous timeline with that of the current timeline. Do note that not all characters are introduced. Character introductions 1: Mia Luna Tearmoon (12) - corresponding to a 1st year middle-schooler Princess of the Tearmoon Empire, one of the two great powers of the continent. She was known to be a selfish princess since young. Received lots of love from her father the emperor. A princess who always looks out for number one. Has white-gold hair and green eyes (TN: blue eyes in the novels). Possesses relatively attractive looks. Has average athletic ability, though her dancing skill is top-class. Motivates herself to dance better by believing that she would one day dance with a handsome prince. Anne Littstein (17) A maid from the Tearmoon Empire. Born to a poor merchant family. The eldest child of her family. Has four younger sisters and one younger brother. Finds work in the palace to supplement her family's income. Fundamentally good-hearted, she is the type of person who would not leave alone abandoned dogs and cats. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "I don't really like her, but she's such a poor thing. Her life in the dungeon is really terrible, and she doesn't seem to have anyone besides me who would look after her..." Appraisal of Mia (now): "The esteemed Princess Mia. She is a very kind and intelligent person, worthy to be called a Saint. At times, she exhibits a cute and humorous side that makes her really charming. I'd give my all to repay the favour I had been graciously showered with..." Ludwig Hewitt (22) A young civil official. Anxious over the state of the empire's finances, his sharp tongue got him into trouble and as a result, he was booted out to the countryside. A person who did his best to restore the empire's finances, he never gave up even as Mia was sentenced to death by guillotine. To the end, he would watch over her, and because of that he earned her absolute trust. However, he still has a sharp tongue. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "Princess Mia, huh? After serving under her, I know that she's not a bad person. She may not be very intelligent, and can be really obstinate and annoying, but she's not a bad person. Still, it is just that she's not very intelligent, though she's not villainous. Still, if only she's a little wiser..." Appraisal of Mia (now): "Her Highness Princess Mia...? I have never served under someone like her ever before. She is a great sage that can predict the future, comprehend the essentials within an instant, and produce the most optimal answers. Her mind is filled with thoughts that the likes of me would never even imagine of. Possessing such a wisdom at such a young age, in the event that she ascends the throne as empress, the prosperity of the empire would be all but guaranteed. I must be prepared to serve with every fibre of my being." Sion Sol Sunkland (12) First prince of the Kingdom of Sunkland, one of the two great powers of the continent. A veritable genius of every aspect, he is especially skilled in swordsmanship, and can best the average knight with his skill alone. A good-looking boy, he endeavours to possess a sense of justice and righteousness fitting for a prince of a great power. During the revolution in the Empire, he supported the leader of the revolutionary army, Tiona. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "An incompetant ruler who oppresses the people. A haughty woman unbefitting of a princess of a great power. It is inevitable that she would be executed by the hands of the people." Appraisal of Mia (now): "As expected of the Great Sage of the Empire. She is not merely compassionate, but also very capable of fighting against injustice. She also possesses a courage that allows her to boldly confront her opponents, no matter whom they may be. Even if making her acquaintance is the only thing I do upon attending this academy, it will still be worth it." Keithwood (17) Prince Sion's attendant. He has been together with Prince Sion since young, and is like a brother to him. Acts informally to him when they are alone. Is a cynic, and occasionally engages in sarcasm. His skill at swordsmanship is not inferior to Sion. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "Princess Mia? Ah, well... she gives the impression of a stereotypical highborn lady. She's the kind of person which his Highness would generally not associate with. She's probably not really his type either." Appraisal of Mia (now): "Princess Mia? Ah, she is a wondrously brilliant person who deserves unashamedly the title of Great Sage of the Empire. She has an unmatched calibre that exceeds even that of his Highness Prince Sion and the extent of her vision is simply magnificent. I think that his Highness would have much to gain by being her friend." Abel Remno (12) Second prince of the Kingdom of Remno. A kind boy by nature, he is brought up in a country where swordsmanship is highly valued. Despite that, after losing repeatedly to his older brother, as well as witnessing Prince Sion's genius swordsmanship, he became disillusioned. In the previous timeline, he became known as an extraordinary playboy who incurred the enmity of women again and again. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "Ah... Princess Mia. Hmm, I would give a warm welcome to any girls without reservation, but she seems to be a hard one in all sorts of ways. Still, if she so desire, I will gladly give her a warm welcome! Ahaha!" Appraisal of Mia (now): "Princess Mia... She is a... wonderful girl. She is not only brave and brimming with intelligence, but also, beautiful. I am proud to be chosen by her as her dance partner. I must work hard so as to live up to her faith in me." Tiona Rudolvon (12) A noble's daughter from the Tearmoon Empire. She is the eldest daughter of Outcount Rudolvon, who governs an outland county of the Empire. Her family's domain is vast and filled with undeveloped land. Because her family is often derided as country bumpkins, she studied hard to prove herself, and even took up swordsmanship. The County of Rudolvon is, relatively speaking, close to its subjects, and Tiona herself is also cognisant of the sufferings of the masses. That is why when the revolution broke out in the Empire, she took charge of the revolutionary army and became revered as the Saint of the Empire. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "Subjecting the people to such suffering is something that is absolutely unforgivable..." Appraisal of Mia (now): "A very kind person. She would even look after someone like me... I have to wash and return to her the handkerchief she lent to me." Rafina Orca Belluga (14) - corresponding to a 2nd year middle-schooler (her birthday is at the beginning of spring) The duke's daughter of the Principality of Belluga. As the student council president of Saint-Noel Academy, she is its de facto ruler. During the revolution in the Empire, she provided covert support to Sion and Tiona. The Principality of Belluga is the holy land of the common faith practised by its neighbouring countries. Rafina often accompanies her father to perform various rituals in his capacity as high priest and has gained an idol-like popularity. A person who prizes justice above all, she can be merciless in dealing with others. A veritable saint, unlike the phoney saint that is Mia. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "Miss Mia? ...Oh my? Is there such a person in Saint-Noel?" (smiles) Appraisal of Mia (now): "Miss Mia? She is my friend. Someone very close to me." (smiles gently) Liora Lulu (11) Tiona Rudolvon's maid. Born to the Lulu Tribe, a minority sylvan ethnic group. Still unfamliar with the lingua franca of the continent, she speaks it in a faltering manner. An expert archer, her physical prowess is outstanding. Also, she is good at roasting meat. She is especially attached to Tiona, and thus has a favourable impression of Mia, who treats Tiona kindly. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "...Kill." Appraisal of Mia (now): "...Very good person. She is nice to Lady Tiona, so I like her." |

She is characterised by her thick black hair and her novelty glasses. A book-lover, though not to the extent that she would die without them. She is a girl who can still enjoy chatting if she has someone she can converse with during break time. Yes, if she has a bosom friend that she can converse with... Appraisal of Mia (prev): "...A frightening person, I believe. Not really someone whom I would want to talk to..." Appraisal of Mia (now): "My dearest... friend. The book provided by Princess Mia is very interesting, and I always enjoy chatting with her. She is a very kind person who would even talk to someone like me." Dion Alaia (27) Captain of a hundred-man squad of the Imperial Army. A former mercenary, his skill was recognised and he became an officer as a result. The strongest swordsman of the Empire. In the previous timeline, he was the one who guillotined Mia and was thus her natural enemy. If he is stranded in an enclosed space like a bridge that only permits one-on-one or two-on-one combat by about one hundred men, he is the type who would get fed up after killing about fifty men and would just quit on the spot. By the way, if he is surrounded by two hundred men and attacked all at once, he would enter into berserker mode and would fight them off even up to fifty extra reinforcements. (Note: The kind of damage that can be wreaked by soldiers whose escape routes are cut off is no laughing matter) He loves his fellow soldiers in his own way, and would not hesitate to seek revenge for them if they are killed senselessly. Fundamentally speaking, he is a dual-wielding master. Appraisal of Mia (prev): "Her Highness the princess? Ah, of course I'll kill her!" Appraisal of Mia (now): "The Great Sage of the Empire is very fearsome indeed. It is as if we are all dancing atop her palm." Cyril Rudolvon (10) Tiona Rudolvon's younger brother. The eldest son of Outcount Rudolvon. Likes his older sister and plants. In the future, he would develop a strain of cold-resistant wheat. He has the disposition of a scholar and loves to study. He is supposed to immerse himself into his research under the patronage of Rafina, but... Appraisal of Mia (prev): "She's the one who bullied my esteemed older sister. She's also the daughter of the one who murdered my esteemed father... Definitely unforgivable!" Appraisal of Mia (now): She is the person who praised my flowers... She is the first person besides my esteemed older sister to do so, and I am really happy about that..." (cheeks blushing) "Moreover, she is my esteemed older sister's dear friend, so I have to strive to avoid any improprieties." Matthias Luna Tearmoon (48) Emperor of the Tearmoon Empire. Mia's father. She has a crush on Vanos, formerly the vice-captain of Dion's squad and currently the captain of the Princess Guard. After she is appointed as his adjutant, she has been in a euphoric mood since.
