I was doubtful about this too but actually, the first two episodes (so far) have been subbed.

I've had a lot of fun with tourism-themed anime before but this one is, mah mah at best.
it drags out forever, tells very little and the magical transformation is the lamest imaginable. I still haven't figured out what kind of animal gunma-chan is supposed to be, a cat with punk-afro hairdo?

Really hard to sit through a full-length episode of this.

Don't know if you still interested, but Wiki says it's supposed to be a horse.

Thank you for the clarification and for taking the time to respond. To be honest, since it is a local/prefectural promotional mascot, as far as I am concerned the underlying animal/creature is not all that important, so this info won't get me to watch further but maybe some other readers appreciate this piece of information.
