Basically what title says. I absolutely love the if routes and wondered if they maybe could adapt them into ovas or a movie.

They need to be adapted into LN first, but they're quite short, I hope Tappei extends them whenever he decides to write it in the LN, I would prefer they be adapted into Movie length format in the anime.

Ah i forgot the anime adapts the light novel. Do they HAVE to be a light novel for them to adapt it?

They don't have to be, but I don't know if they would make production using a Web Novel source, for me at least I've never encountered an anime based off a Web Novel.

I'm not super informed on this, but apparently Tappei released a limited edition version of the Greed IF light novel. You had to get tokens or something through the re:zero japanese shop, (attained to buying other things I think), and then when you had enough tokens you got the novel. Of course, I'm fairly certain it wasn't released to the public like a regular light novel (for now atleast), I think it was more of a special thing. And apparently it was like ~300 pages, so easily enough for a fairly decent lengthed movie (a solid 2 hours.) Whereas I'm pretty sure the web novel greed IF was the shortest of them all. Once again, I don't know how accurate all of this info is, I saw it in a video a few months ago, so this is just off the top of my head. But I could see Tappei releasing the IF stories as more official light novels at some point in the future. And I'm kinda hoping the EX novels get adapted before season 3, like how they did memory snow and frozen bonds. That'd especially give them time to produce more re;zero content that isn't from the main story, so they don't catch up to the light novels to fast.

I mean I'm sure they would sell well so I don't see why not.

I think we can hope. With merchandise and manga sales, not to mention anime viewership, Re: Zero is incredibly profitable. Especially if they are able to adapt an IF route that involves Subaru ending up with Rem, I'm sure they would be hard pressed to come up with a reason NOT to cash in on an anime adaptation of a character as phenomenally popular as her. Especially since her character got sidelined in the main story to let Emilia shine more. I think it would make a lot of sense for them to at least consider it, if the source material is there.
Soooooooo, Im really hopeful xD

Perhaps only Greed IF, because only that has a published version.

However, there is a lot of content in the main storyline yet to be adapted (enough for ~2 more seasons I'd say). So I doubt studios would go for the IF stories at this point.

This is a misconception. Rem wasn't originally planned to have any role in Arc4-6, so Emilia was going to get the focus irrespective of Rem's popularity (the WN for Arc4 was written in 2013-14, that time Rem was not nearly as popular). The author initially started with constructing ReZero around Emilia, so a lot of the central mysteries and lore are tied to her. Plus, you will also see other characters like Echidna, Garf, Beatrice, Otto, Roswaal, etc getting more prominent roles.

I think it would make a lot of sense for them to at least consider it, if the source material is there.

Actually, Sloth IF is kind of boring. I am not sure if even Rem fans would enjoy it. I know many WN readers (Rem fans) who could never finish reading that. So it is unlikely to get an adaptation, I feel.

I hope not i rather have them adapting Spin-off EX Stories Like The Dream of the Lion King, or The Love Song of the Sword Devil. But if they plan to adapt If Story, Sloth is quite possible since it got official LN, for others Wrath and Pride are Popular Enough too.

They could do them as spinoffs if the anime maintains the same popularity down the road. Which I think it will, considering the story only gets better and the world of re:zero bigger.
