| Hey everyone, I just started Ashita no Joe and I'm loving it. I read some reviews beforehand and 1 of them mentioned the final part of season 1 is partly filler with an anime original ending, since the manga was still ongoing at the time. This part was redone in Ashita no Joe 2 where it follows the manga in a much better way. So now my question is what's the best way to watch this. Would I be better off dropping season 1 from episode 54 and go straight to season 2, or would I be missing out on too much that way? Is it good enough in its own right? |
| If you care about the characters then you should finish first season. It's not like they're mindless fillers, they still contribute to characterization after a certain something happens which I don't wanna spoil |

| I watched the 79 episodes and I liked most of them. I think that the relationship between Joe and a new character was better on this one, but everything else is better on AnJ2. There is one episode just about the kids and a mini arc of Joe lost in a farm... but the rest of the original content actually fits the story. If you care about Joe and Danpei, I would suggest to watch the rest of this one, but if you don't care that much about them, you can jump straight into the sequel, because it's basically the same ending (for that arc, in AnJ2, the story continues beyond that) one being more dramatic than the other. |
