Fullmetal Alchemist
| Aside from the cute closure with Winry at the train station, the epilogue sucks. It feels strangely removed from the basic tenants set by the rest of the anime and is self-destructive to the near-perfect ending set before, leaving a scrambled state-of-affairs. Fan-service, attempt at sequel baiting or whatever, I don't know. It's just unfortunate that when everything seemed wrapped up so deftly with comforting closure, it had to be mishandled in such a daft way that it leaves a bitter aftertaste. It's like coming back from behind the curtain after tremendous applause to tell fart jokes. In essence: I don't like it now, I knew I didn't like it before, and I feel stupid for not skipping it in the rewatch. As for the specific points and the specific reasons why I hated those points, you should know better than to ask that of a critic. Just kidding, it's everything for every reason imaginable. (except Winry at the train station) |
