What to read that is similar to Sundome?

While a sad ending and series this story hit me hard and I like when a series can do that so I was wondering if you have read this manga and have found something similar what was it? Preferably manga but anime, books or TV and film I'd take as well.

hi, first of all...
sundome is the only manga which left me with unexplainable feelings of empathy, so let me tell you that I haven't found any manga that "felt" closer to it.
as for manga I can only recommend you the works of asano inio, who is best known for oyasumi punpun and solanin. any other source would probably recommend you aku no hana, and even though i found aku no hana fun to read/watch, it wasn't nearly as striking.
also, maybe I can recommend houseki no kuni's anime which has great CGI and characters with depth, even though the depth isn't as explored as sundome or punpun.
(also, if you enjoy dark, messed up stories with grotesque humor, litchi hikari club and palepoli are great ones!)

Sundome gave me sort of similar vibes to Ciguatera. Sundome felt like a more bitter version.
