[Spoiler] Question regarding something that happened in the anime

In one episode Geun Soo Min died on the park bench. We even saw his ghost leaving his body and talking to Sori. He could see her, and she could hear him - it was his soul, right?
And in next chapter, there is "7 years later", there is a girl that says his dad is far away but they gonna see each other today. I thought that maybe Sori will go with her daughter on his grave or something and tell her the truth, but then - Geun Soo appears...
Can someone clarify this? I'm really confused. I don't want to judge if it would be better if he dies or survives, but in current state it doesn't make much sense
