I've been watching the live action TV series "The Three Kingdoms" and I really liked it and was wondering if there's an anime with the same quality or even better.

There are a few anime based on "The Three Kingdoms." Most of them are pretty old, though, I think. I have been reading the Sangokushi manga, and I remembered that there is an anime based on that manga. I haven't seen it, though, because I don't watch much anime anymore.

I think there are a few others too. I was reading the manga because I thought the novel "The Water Margin" was kind of boring and I wanted to get the "Three Kingdoms" story too without having to experience that again.

There is also Kingdom, which is based on this period. I saw the first episode and it was pretty good, though the animation was not so good. I heard it gets better though. I've decided to switch to reading the manga though.

I had the same question. Seems there are quite a few. I just started watching Kingdom. And yeah the animation does get better as it goes on. It's like part computer generated, part drawn, which is weird, but then again it makes the drawn portions stand out that much more. And the second season seems all drawn. Guess the funding went up. Souten Kouro is another anime I think has some Three Kingdom links.

Watch Kingdom, It's downright godly(they took a couple liberties, inorder to make a more compelling story, specifically turning two of the most minor characters, into main characters, but otherwise, It's heavily based off such.)

Don't listen to the people that can't except any damn variation in animation techniques, the animation is godly, and It's a hell of a lot better then the crappy traditional way of getting a similar effect(2nd season goes the tradional route due to all the fucking bitches in the anime community, and due to such, It's a hell of a lot less epic+powerful, despite the writing being just as great as the first season). God forbid someone comes up with a new technique to do something, even if It's a better technique.

Other then that, there's two series called the Three Kingdoms, the newer one is impossible to watch(it was never put on DvD, and was only aired once), and the older one, is so super slow paced, that It's really hard to get into(this coming from someone who loves slower paced anime too, so yea. Although I must say, the arts pretty damn amazing for a early 90s anime).

There's a bunch of smaller anime roughly based on the period, but meh, nothing to write home about.

On the upside, Kingdom is easily one of the greatest anime of all time, so yea definitely watch that.

I wanted to clear things up a bit: Kingdom is about the Warring States Era, which takes place before the Qin Dynasty. The OP is referring to the Three Kingdoms Era, which takes place after the Han Dynasty. There is a difference of roughly 400 years between the two.
