Anime that has two main characters pitted against each other

Looking for something where two main characters fight on different sides and one side isn't obviously the good guys and one side the bad guys. Extra details that don't have to be met would be they fight for certain factions in some sort of war, I'd like medieval type era, and it'd be cool if it had comedy as well.
