I see many butthurt comments about the ending, I don't want to read the series just to get upset in the end.

I can say it's not sad, quite nice actually. If that's the only problem, you won't get upset.

The lack of good ending did upset me.

Seriously though the ending could have been better, nerveless this manga left a deep impact on me, honestly I've never been so confused reading a manga.
This will be my all time favorite for as long as I can read.

I'll say it wasn't an UNhappy ending... I just found it very "meh".

I think in a manga series filled with sad happenings, hope grows as the two get emotionally closer... and when the two became intimate, there is already firm hope in life that the story of mishaps had to end.

It is a thought-provoking and heart-wrenching manga and a very enjoyable read if one likes to explore the details. It's written by a young author and it's her debut manga which was initially censored from publishing because of its content. As such, it does have some flaws, but overall it's a great manga.

I am happy that Kyoto Animation and director Yamada Naoko will be handling the anime adaptation as film.

I think the ending was a fine one.

It was expected, but that the only flaw about it.

I wouldn't want a dark and realistic ending, like: although the two became lovers after graduation, their relationship didn't last long; young affections never lasts long, and the guy cheated and the girl became a bitch; they knew the had to grow up, and they did, in a way ...

Ending was a bit underwhelming, but the strong message it puts forward is enough to overlook that. Not a fan of open ending, but I am allright with that.

Quick question, please do not spoil it, but I've been planning on reading this for a while. The reason I haven't read it is because of the fact that the female lead is deaf. I don't have anything against deaf, it's just that, does it change the communication in any way between the main characters? Does she do sign language or something?
