Not sure if I'll get a reply, but as may as well try.

I want to get really good at osu!, but I feel like I am handicapping myself because I'm using a really crappy mouse.

So what's the best set-up? Good mouse, keyboard, tablets, etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

mmm..its not so much gear but rather skill, and its mostly preference too.

typically the best players use mechanical keyboards and wacom tablets or razer/logitech/steelseries mice

what kinda mouse you got

Um... I don't even think my mouse has a name. I got it for $5 at my nearest convenience store.

Well, what is the best mouse in your opinion?

And if you're saying PC games, then nah.

And here's my profile: http://osu.ppy.sh/u/2511954

ive used a logitech g500 for more than a year for heavy gaming and it's never failed me. razer deathadder or steelseries sensei/rival are also solid.

these are ~$50 USD or higher if youre willing to pay for them, but they should last you a long time

I play on a 10 year old laptop and I use some microsoft mouse from before 2000.
I don't think good gear is required, but it would make playing MUCH more comfortable.

Well you're taking advice from this guy Yushi/Rice

Also, get rid of mouse acceleration, make yourself a skin that you feel really comfortable reading maps with and just PRACTICE :D

I'm amazed that you are so good with such a poop mouse. I guess I just need to grind and grind my skills.

I added you by the way. I hope to see you on osu! sometime.

And sorry for my super late response too. lol

edit: One thing to note is that since the last time I posted, I actually invested in a tablet which is what I prefer now.

Best/most used tablet would be Wacoom Intious Small CTH480/CTH480S But it's pretty expensive so not that many osu! players buy it.
Also one cheap and popular tablet for osu! is Huion 420/ Huion H420 tablet, it cost only little bit over 30€. I have one and i really like it :p

I don't know much about mouses but you should be looking for some semi-expensive mouse and make sure you will have your own mouse settings where you can change DPI, but it's really how you prefer to play. I know people who play extremely good with really old microsoft mouse :'D

Some people say that you need mechanical keyboard for osu! to be good but that's not true. It's true tho that you can click much faster with mechanical keyboard but i think all keyboard are almost same and it doesn't make that big difference.

I still play a lot of osu, although I took a bit of a break recently.

I play with tablet but honestly mouse is also fine. But if you play enough osu and want to try a tablet, the cheap tablets don't cost much more than like $20-$30.

I use a XP-Pen Star G430 Drawing Tablet for OSU and while I've thought about buying a nicer tablet I don't think it would actually make me any better at osu. The "official osu tablet" is just a branded huion H420 which runs at around the same price point. I've never tried one but they are also supposed to be fine. Back when I bought my tablet I went just with the XP-Pen G430 because of the passive (no battery) pen.
